Recently Glutened, Will That Affect My Annual Celiac Panel?

I am supposed to have my annual celiac bloodwork panel done this week? I was accidentally glutened two weeks ago and then again last week. I have been strictly gluten free for the past 11 months. With these two recent times of being glutened, will it affect my bloodwork? Should I wait before having the test done? How long will it take for the gluten to not show up in my bloodwork?

No, an accidental glutening won't affect your test. It takes several months of eating a diet heavy in gluten to even have a chance of affecting your antibody levels.

My son was glutened 4 days before his blood panel, and his tTG went from 4 to 17 in 6 months (normal is <21). His pediatric GI said it was not elevated from being glutened and she did not seem concerned, but I was not so sure. :unsure: I don't think it would hurt to postpone your bloodwork for a month or so just to be sure.

I'm curious why you have a panel done annually? Once you are diagnosed why would you need blood work done again?

Repeating your blood work helps you know whether you are accidentally ingesting gluten. Good (negative) results are a sign of good dietary compliance.

      I was taking medicine for sibo but it was not agreeing with my stomach at all.Was on gabapentin but it amps me up.I was taking in morning because it wasn't allowing me to sleep.This has always been an issue with medicine and me.Even going to dentist, the good shot that numbs you once, I can't take because it makes my heart beat fast and I get the shakes...

      I showed one doctor I went to once because completely clueless of celiac disease and yes that one was connected to a well known hospital and she said oh thats just a bunch of people that think they are celiac coming together. I said um no they have doctors and knowledge behind what is being written. So bay area is Downplaying this site! SADLY

      Do Gluten Enzymes actually work?

      If you successfully digest gluten with enzyme supplements so it won’t give you side effects, your challenge won’t be worthwhile because the digested fragments of gluten also won’t stimulate antibody production or cause intestinal damage.
