Just got my blood work back and it was neg. for celiac. I was hopefull that this would be an answer to some of my issues. So I've been gluten free for a week and I'm wondering if I should continue.

Doc is sending me the specific results but if the blood work is neg is there any benefit to going gluten free????

Thanks for your help.

If you feel better gluten free, then yes, I would say that's a benefit!

Your symptoms may or may not be related to gluten. But the way to tell if gluten contributes directly to your symptoms is by a gluten free trial.

Not all cases of Celiac show up on bloodwork, and some people have a non-Celiac gluten sensitivity that isn't picked up by the tests.

Celiac testing has many false negatives. It is quite possible to be a celiac even with negative blood work. Do try the diet unless you have been referred for an endoscopy. If I had not had the good fortune to have a really savvy allergist I would most likely not be here today. I am one of the 30% of us that do not show up on blood work. You may also find that when you get the actual results in your hand that you are actually one or two points into the positive range. Doctors will sometimes say this is a negative result. It is not.

Thank you for the input.

Since you are already gluten-free, I would stay the course at least for a few months and see if you feel better. At that point, you can "challenge" and eat gluten and see if you react badly. That will be your clue.

Your response on this matter is what I expect. You’ve had a similar episode years ago, but this one is lasting longer!

I'd like to clarify: Is the pain you describe in the area just below your chest constant, or does it only appear when you start moving?
