So I went to the store yesterday and went down the cereal isle to check the pricing on rice chex. I noticed the box is differant again and doesnt say gluten free. The ingredients also don't list barley malt, but now it has Tocopheryl....hmmm...

also, I contacted sauve b/c I have been using thier products, shine mist and hairspray and noticed Tocopheryl acetate on the ingredients. here is thier response to my question....which doesnt really clarify anything for me b/c I asked where the Vitamine E is derived from in the tocopheryl this was thier response:

they sent me 2 e-mails...

Hi Melissa,

Thanks for writing!

We apologize for any confusion, however, Tocopheryl Acetate is a Vitamin E derivative.

We hope this helps!

Your friends at Suave

MM

I saw the new rice chex box as well and got all upset cause it didn't say Gluten Free. However, upon further perusal I noticed it does say Gluten Free, its just on the side now instead of the front. So its still good :)

I don't know about the other stuff, as I've moved to Organic Products and Products without Laurel Sulfates.

hmmm...I'll have to looked harder. I didnt see it on the side, but then there were people wanting to get to where I was standing in the isle which distracted my search  I always hated reading the side of the box b/c then people think I'm a health freak or something, and it doesnt help that I'm thin, so they probabbly think I'm counting calories...but, eh, I dont care anymore...

lol I know how you feel, people stare at me when I am in the store. All they see is fruit, veggies, meat and there I am standing in the aisle checking labels and they probably think I am looking at calories. I have had people make comments" "Come on now, you could use some extra food". So rude.

I really dont have any issues with other people. Maybe it is because I live in a bigger city. But most just mind their own business. I have run into a few friends at the store and the most I ever got was "My you eat so healthy" when they look in my cart. I dont think peeps mean to be rude. I think a good number of people are very self conscious about themselves and their own weight/eating habits. The type of people that will say something are usually the ones that constantly beat themselves up....I should eat better....I should start exercising....I should quit smoking. It really comes from insecurity more than rudeness IMO.

I'll be 40 in November. Maybe it is my age too. I really dont care AT ALL what other people think about me. It is a liberating feeling indeed. :)

i came across the new Chex box about a month ago. i was freaked out because it didn't say gluten-free on the front and there were pictures of snow flakes. i almost thought they were really old boxes they had pulled from some dark corner of their warehouse. but sure enough i flipped the box over and over and over and finally saw the side panel that is all about Celiac and gluten free. check your box again!

:lol::lol: sometimes I think they are out to get us ( I know theyre not, but we've all thought this way). Maybe they have monkey's in those dark corners that go around openeing boxes, pouring gluten inside of them, laughing, and then sealing them back up

Gluten Monkeys! Kinda like space monkeys? Next time I am glutened from an unknown source I'll be sure to blame it on the gluten monkeys. That awesome :)

In my demented delusions, they're not monkeys, they're evil clowns!

I noticed that my local Safeway took forever to get the gluten free rice chex but wally world had them asap.

yeah. the less frequently shopped stores around here, or stores in less populated areas took a while to get the new ones too.

i thought it was worth mentioning that i just bought a couple more boxes of Rice Chex yesterday and noticed there is no mention of Celiac Disease anywhere...not even on the side panel. but the ingredients are the same so we're good! it would appear the stores have not resorted to pulling those dusty old boxes out from the shadows of the stockroom! :P

I have not made my own juices but have made my own granola copycat recipe from Trader Joes Turmeric ginger granola. Have you made your own juices? blending vs cold pressed what is better?
