Day 5. Not a puff! Feeling good.

You can do it, Susan. :)

Hi buddies

I'm not doing well

as i said, wrote a long letter here and lost it

My dr gave me permission to smoke.

longggggggggggggggggggggggggg story but he knows what we are going through

only one tiny incident to report

don't even know if i told you and too tired to look

the inspection that was by buyer left the shower head on the shower stall when we had told them we had just paid to have it all repaired and kitchen ceiling done over with new recessed lighting

2 1/2 hr inspection lasted 5 --- driving with car sick cat pooping and puking all over carrier and new car

came home to flooded kitchen ceiling and water pouring from ceiling seams and lighting and floor covered with water

went through 3 roll s of paper towels to mop up

They will not pay.

admitted they left shower head pointing to the tile in question for 40 minutes.

i won't be a smoker in CA

not sure when or if we'll be leaving here

it had been 9 1/2 months.

OMG that is crazy, they are responsible for that. Call your insurance company and file a claim, this is wrong. They had no right to do that, if the tile was in question they should have hired a general contractor to look at it.

I am sorry you are going through this, I know this has been no fun for you. I had a Dr. tell me once to not quit smoking, I had so much going on he said it wasnt a good idea for me to add that stress to my life.

We are here for you! Vent away Judy

Susan, more than 5 days strong now, good for you!!! I know its hard, I had a horrible craving this morning but I havent put my patch on yet.

ranger Enthusiast

Thanks. Got glutened yesterday. Sick. But, day 6 - NO SMOKE! Didn't say I didn't want to, just didn't.

Hello all!

It has been a while since I have been able to check in. I am so psyched for those of you who have managed to quit... and for those of you who are trying - do not get discouraged. It is said that quitting smoking is harder than quitting heroin or something horrible like that! YIKES!

Stress can be a #1 trigger, and lord knows all of my accidentally finding out what I am sensitive/allergic to (by way of ingesting it) has got me ready to strangle someone... BUT, still, I am proud to report that today makes 2 Years and 127 Days since I quit.... but who is counting! LOL

I am heading to Chicago this Friday for a MUCH NEEDED girls weekend with my sister in law and a girl friend. I am super excited.

To be perfectly honest.... three times in the last month, I contemplated purchasing some ciggs. I decided that the asthma attacks I was already suffering from, due to the nasty rainy weather we had been having for weeks on end, might not be a good combo with lighting up. The thought DOES still cross my mind... I have just been really controlled on acting on it. I wonder if the *thought* ever does really go away?!?

msmini14 Enthusiast

Congrats on your quit!! I am so glad to hear that you have done this well.

I have heard that the thought of smoking never goes away. I think what might be hard in the long run is making sure you remember why you quit so you dont go back.

A few of us here have struggled. I am, just getting light headed all the time makes me want to smoke. I wont though, I am sick of putting myself through this misery.

We always have you long term non smokers to look up too =)

ranger Enthusiast

Judy, I don't know how you're dealing with all that crap. Don't think I could quit in the midst of it. I' in a pretty low stress place right now, and that's the only way I'm doing it. Jen, sounds like you're doing good. Day 8 smoke free! Never thaught I could do this! I get strong cravings every now and the, but won't cave. I have made up my mind, and feelling good! DH still smoking (grrr), but not much and he goes down in the basement. Maybe when you get that house sold, you'll be able to quit altogether. It sounds like you're not smoking much, so that's real good.

How cool Judy! You are going to love it there, I know it. You will have so many options available to you for celiac. You have Henrys (which I sooo miss that place), Sprouts, and so many places to eat out there. Make sure once you are all settled in to call the chef at Pechanga, he will make you an amazing 3 course meal. I still have his number if you want it =)

I miss Temecula, I grew up out there and I know the place like the back of my hand. I am still adjusting to life up here and getting to know the area. I am just happy to be with my husband, I appreciate everything life has given me and has to offer me =)

I am sooooo happy for you! =)

2 weeks and 1 day smoke free! I feel so good. I can now say, "I am a non-smoker". Husband still smoking, but that's his biz -he smokes in the basement. Wish he wasn't, but untill I got it into my head that it was up to me alone, I wouldn't quit. There'd always be a smoker to blame it on!

Susan

Just a heads up, Susan, and this may not apply to you because I believe you are using the patch whereas I went cold turkey. But at about two weeks was when I suddenly went bonkers about no ciggies--maybe was when the last of the nicotine left my system?? At any rate, the next two weeks were really the hardest of all :( :( , so be prepared for it just in case :P

And keep up the good work--proud of you! :)

msmini14 Enthusiast

It was the same for me too Mushroom, was so easy at first. Then after I was off the patch I lost a bit too, which I am going though again lol, but this is the last time.

Susan we are so glad to hear that you are doing so great! Wish your hubby would quit too, maybe once he notices how well you are doing he will go to you for support and advice. Are you still on step 1? I did step 2 for almost a month before I went to number 3, just remember to take your time with the quit =)

I hope you are doing good Judy! Let us know when you find a place in California =) The news stations here in Northern CA are getting us prepared for a huge storm, hehehe. I am not used to the weather here, so I hope it is like so cal when they dramatize everything.

mushroom Proficient

Norcal weather is a little different from Socal. When they say there will be heavy rain, they really mean it!!! And sometimes three days or more at a time. Dry all summer, wet all winter :( Not so bad south of SF but north, well, Russian River is rushin' and overflowin' a lot of the time. This time of year generally not to worry too much, but come Dec., Jan., Feb., watch out!!! At least you're are pretty much floating on the bay down there; we used to get creeks/rivers flowing past our house :o Happy wintering==we are finally getting whiffs of spring :D

My hubby didn't quit with me and I didn't nag him; but about a year later he had a heavy cold and when I was going out to buy him some Nyquil I noticed we had no cig. carton sitting on the fridge, and I thought, should I buy some? I didn't, and he never smoked after that (well, not counting the cigars!!!) but those are well outside and away from my sensitive lungs :P

msmini14 Enthusiast

lol they are right, has been raining non stop all day long. I really wanted it to just sprinkle so I could go on my walk at lunch, lol yeah right!

So I havent had a cigarette since March and when I started to smoke again it was cigars. So I kicked the cigars and was craving them at first. I didnt think about a cigarette for months up until this last week, they have been on my mind more now than ever! I cant understand.

A part of me wants to bum one off this girl at work, but I wont and then I think about getting a cigar on the way home. I have to continue reminding myself why I quit in the first place. Then I think, what will smoking fix? Nothing! Evil.

Judy even though you smoke a little during the day keep us to date on the topic =) Please =)

Jen are you getting the rain that so CA is getting or is it a different system

Temecula was to get some sprinkles today and tomorrow i think

thanks for inviting me back ;)

I'm trying so hard to take a 'hit' and stub out

the old cig at the end of the morning is pretty gross

maybe gross will do it

finally got all the 'turn off call's made

now today focusing of 'dr' calls to forward records.

and the list goes on

tomorrow we are w/o elec from 7 am -11 but that will be ok

better than dinner time.

we lost 3 days of time with the Open Original Shared Link^& buyer..........saying he wouldn't pay for his 200 amp up grade that he wanted............we have 100 and all is fine but a few fraid wires but NOOOOOOOOOOOOO

now we have to shell out $550 to to that and then....................folks..............all should be done out of our pockets.

did i tell you guys that I told my realestate agent in T we might have to buy a tent and pitch in camp ground with the $$ we'll be walking away with.............and she said " sorry, all the campgrounds are full of homeless" no where to pitch you tent but you could on our 7 acres"

Actually she's so wonderful she wants us to stay with them in the 2nd wing of her home where the guest rooms are............ :o say what????

I bet our whole 3 story house would fit in one of her closets..........love her to death.

most generous person i've met in a long time.

will copy and post on silly thread as these are the only places i have time to go to lately

Hi Judy!

That is so nice of your realtor to offer that to you =) Wow that is sad what she is saying about the camp grounds there, that area went crazy with new development and home sales. The average cost for a house in that area when real estate was up was nothing less than 300k and that is the least amount of money. So a lot of people (like everywhere in the us) bought these houses at crazy prices then lost them. I really wanted to buy there, such a good investment during these times.

My mom's house appraised at 600k before the market crashed, but she has an acre of land.

I am so glad you are getting it all together now! Wish I was down south to go grab lunch with you :)

It looks like their most recent clinical trial just finished up on 5-22-2025.

Dear Scott,  please check the link https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT05574010?intr=KAN-101&rank=1 What do you think about it?

KAN‑101 is still very much in development and being actively studied. It has not been dropped—rather, it is advancing through Phases 1 and 2, moving toward what could become the first disease‑modifying treatment for celiac disease. https://anokion.com/press_releases/anokion-announces-positive-symptom-data-from-its-phase-2-trial-evaluating-kan-101-for-the-treatment-of-celiac-disease/

Thiamine interacts with all the other B vitamins.  Thiamine and B 6 make a very important enzyme together. With more thiamine and other vitamins available from the supplements your body is absorbing the ones you need more of.  The body can control which vitamins to absorb or not.  You're absorbing more and it's being transported through the blood.   It's common to have both a Thiamine and a Pyridoxine deficiency.  Keep taking the B Complex. This is why it's best to stop taking supplements for six to eight weeks before testing vitamin levels.
    • badastronaut
Yes I took a supplement that had B6 in it, low dosage though. I've stopped taking that. B1 doesn't affect other B vitamin levels?
