I have been looking for ready made coconut kefir. I am currently drinking goat milk kefir. It is helping me, but frankly, I just dont like dairy. I dont like the aftertaste of ANY dairy. I found 2 companies that sell it, but they dont ship. Body Ecology does, but here are the ingredients:

Then it says this:

But Does This Product Contain Gluten? Current research suggests that for persons with celiac disease and gluten-sensitivity the maximum safe level of gluten in a finished product is less than 0.02% (200 parts per million) and possibly as little as 0.002% (20 parts per million). Indeed, for a product to be labeled as "Gluten-Free," Codex Standard allow for up to 200 parts per million gluten content.

Although you see wheat and rye lower down in the ingredient lists for Coco-Biotic and Dong Quai, and wheat, rye and oats for BE Wholegrain, NO gluten was detected in laboratory tests for Coco-Biotic , only 6 parts per million was detected in lab tests for Dong Quai , and only 7 parts per million was detected in lab tests for BE Wholegrain (which is all WAY below the rigorous 20 parts per million or less threshold the FDA is pushing for to label a product "Gluten-Free.")

Aside from the fact that there are minimal amounts of these grains in Coco-Biotic, Dong Quai, and BE Wholegrain, the fermentation process actually breaks down the gluten; gluten strains normally bind in the body, but fermentation breaks it down so it won't! That means those with gluten-sensitivities may actually have their digestive systems improved and long-term their gluten-tolerance raised by these products!

Personally I would not use the product. I am one who won't use any product that has gluten ingredients that have been processed to be gluten free knowingly. I am however very sensitive and react to tiny amounts. You may want to challenge the product for a week when you are feeling good and not consuming or using any other risky product. Perhaps that could tell you if it is really safe for your system.

Yeah...my reaction to gluten is migraine and vertigo....just dont ever see a good time for that...LOL

I emailed one of the companies that makes it without any gluten grains cuz their site said shipping would be available soon. I know I can make my own. But geez....I already make EVERYTHING I eat from scratch. It would be nice to have a few ready made things. :)

I would not. I am also in the same boat as ravenwoodglass. I am not impressed with their statement and am not convinced they fully understand.

      As far as I know and I have made severalonline searches, celiac disease disease has not been recognized as a cause of migraines or any eye problems. What I wrote must have been confusing.

      Interesting, when I suffered for a few months with ectopics I noticed that carbohydrates would cause indigestion and bloating in my stomach, then that would lead to my heart skipping beats, and I could feel it in my throat, it was very unsettling.  My last serious bout of this was after eating a Muller Rice Pudding for breakfast.   I happened to be wearing a 48 hour halter at the time and cardiology picked it up, but they weren't worried about what they saw. There was some British doctor who'd made some videos on the Vagus nerve that I remember watching at the time which made sense of what I was experiencing, there did seem to be some sort of connection.

      I asked my cardiologist about stopping vitamins.  He said his tests account for all detectable vitamins from sources other than food.  I only need to stop them for a couple of days.  He has me keep records of meds and vitamins I've ingested over the past 10 days and prior and he does his calculations.

      Reply to treats I try and eat to bring up the glucose. Sometime I get up 3 times a night and eat something. I don't think food is the issue. A lot of the food they say should help doesn't.  Many mornings my level is 59 and I feel sick, sometimes for hours. It has been recommended I go to an Endocrinologist.
