I was just at a Canadian Celiac Association meeting in my province (PEI) and they had some food samples from this place called Rosie's Gluten Free Gourmet Food Ltd. I was very impressed. The rolls and sub buns look and taste the same as wheat bread! It was amazing! I mean wow! :D They sell homemade pizzas (with toppings), cakes, cookies, rolls, ect.

Anyway, for those of you in the area here is the address.

5095 Highway 114

Shepody, N.B

Thanks Carrie! :P

Do you know of a phone number or web site? I looked up Shepody on the map, it looks to be about an hour (maybe less) south of Moncton.

I have two phone numbers:

1-506-882-2211

1-866-718-8800

It's not far from Moncton.

If you live in Canada, you can probably order gluten-free products directly from Sterk's Bakery in Ontario. They are located at 3866 23rd Street, Vineland and their Tel is (905) 562-3086. From what I have learned, this bakery is owned by a gluten-free family. I do not have the time or energy to bake my own bread, so I buy theirs. I have to order mine from MissRobens online sine I live in Delaware. Their gluten-free Italian Bread is the only gluten-free bread that I have eaten that could pass as bread. The other stuff just tastes like cardboard. They also make pizza shells--a wonderful discovery! and rolls that are good too. I am hoping for some cakes or pastries, but these would probably not ship well. Good Luck!

My local health food store actually carries Sterk's products and I have been very impressed with them. They have awesome products and they use vacuum packaging (no freezing!).

My favorites have been the pizza crusts and the Sandwich bread! YUM!

:D Thank you Carrie!

I phoned Rosie and she is remarkable. My husband and I will be driving over to meet her in June and while we are there I will enjoy a gluten free meal at her restaurannt. Have you been over there?

She told me that the nature store in the Charlottetown mall carries some of her products. Have you tried them?

Thank you so much for sharring your info.

Brenda

No I haven't been over to her store yet. I didn't know she had a restaurant! That's great news!

I have tried some of her products at the celiac meeting at the QEH and they were very good! I saw the products in at the natures harvest, they have pies, cabbage rolls, and pizza. The pizza looks especially good!

We haven't tried Rosie's products but whe comes to the Farmer's Market in Moncton every Saturday. Apparently her pizza is good.

Carriefaith Enthusiast

I haven't had it because I am lactose intolerant but the pizza does look very good! It comes in a box like take out pizza and it looks yummy!

They are now selling a ton of Rosie's stuff at the Nature's harvest on PEI. They have bread, pizza, cabbage rolls, shepard's pie, cookies, ect. I think they are trying to replace some Sterk's stuff with Rosie's stuff.

Yes, I, too, have osteoporosis from years of malabsorption, too.  Thiamine and magnesium are what keep the calcium in place in the bones.  If one is low in magnesium, boron, selenium, zinc, copper, and other trace minerals, ones bone heath can suffer.  We need more than just calcium and Vitamin D for strong bones.  Riboflavin B 2, Folate B 9 and Pyridoxine B 6 also contribute to bone formation and strength.   Have you had your thyroid checked?  The thyroid is important to bone health as well.  The thyroid uses lots of thiamine, so a poorly functioning thyroid will affect bone heath.

That sounds so very likely in my case! I will absolutely ask my doctor on my next bone check coming up in March... Thanks a lot!

Calcium levels as measured in the blood can be quite deceiving as the body will rob calcium from the bones to meet demands for it by other bodily functions. Also, supplementing with calcium can be counterproductive as it tends to raise gut pH and decrease absorption. More often than not, the problem is poor absorption to begin with rather than deficiency of intake amounts in the diet. Calcium needs an acidic environment to be absorbed. This is why so many people on PPIs develop osteoporosis. The PPIs raise gut pH. And some people have high gut PH for other reasons. Low pH equates to a more acidic environment whereas high pH equates to a more basic (less acidic) environment.

Kind thanks for all this valuable information! Since my Folate was/is low and also my Calcium, there IS a chance I am low in B vitamins... My doctor only measured the first two, oh and Zinc as I has twisted her arm and guess what, that was mega low too. So who knows, until I get myself tested properly, what else I am deficient in... I did a hair mineral test recently and it said to avoid All sources of Calcium. But this is confusing for me as my Ca is so low and I have osteoporosis because of this. It is my Adjusted Ca that is on the higher side and shouldn't be. So am not sure why the mineral test showed high Ca (well, it was medium in the test but relative to my lowish Magnesium, also via hair sample, it was high I was told). But anyway, thanks again for the VitB download, I will look into this most certainly!

Hello good afternoon, I was wondering if anyone has ever brought their anti-allergy pills? I have been wanting to use their Cetirizine HCI 10mg. They are called HealthA2Z and distributed by Allegiant Health.I’m also Asthmatic and these allergies are terrible for me but I also want to be sure they don’t have any sort of gluten compound.    I have tried calling them but to no avail. Has anyone ever used them? If so, did you had any problems or no problems at all?    thank you
