The 'letter To Dr. Fine' Thread Appears To Be Gone

The thread for 'Letter to Dr. Fine' has disappeared except for the initial post question. I hope it's just a glitch. Is it my computer or is the Forum site having a bit of a nervous breakdown today? I hope we get the thread back. I would hate to have to do the letter over again. Thanks for any help. :)

The board was experiencing problems this afternoon.

Thanks. I still marvel at how fast you are! I will be patient. I'm sorry I mistakenly posted this on 'doctors' instead of 'technical'. I'm assuming you mean that the board is still having issues. On my screen anyway, I still have nothing showing under the initial post question.

I was in kind of a hurry before, but I just moved this to the Technical Forum. Your screen may still need to load (?)--I'm guessing but I can scroll through the entire thread, so it's definately there :D If it were to have been removed, I'd know about it ;)

I'm so sorry to be a pest, but I am still not getting any of the posts for the 'Letter to Dr. Fine' thread. The initial post question is there, but none of the rest of the thread. It's empty just as if it were a new post. When I click on any other posts, I am getting all the activity just fine as usual. I have rebooted my computer and done everything I know to do on my end in case it's just me. It wouldn't matter so much, except right now is when I am supposed to be compiling all the names of those who wish to be included in the letter. As of 1 AM this morning, I was getting it all just fine. Thanks for the help.

Make sure you are not using outline view. Right under the new posts button, you will see one that says "options" Choose Standard view to see all the posts (I can see all of them, and I don't even have special mod powers. :) ).

Hope this helps.

I'm not sure what the problem is. I have verified that I can see all 37 posts, and an ordinary (non-moderator) identity I checked also can. Is it possible that you are using an alternate view? Go to the Options button at the right of the green bar with the topic title in it, and make sure that the display mode selected is "standard."

If you still can't see it, send me a PM with your email and I will send it to you as a file.

PROBLEM SOLVED!

Thanks so much cruelshoes and psawyer. Yes, I was on 'outline' mode for some reason. I didn't do anything to get there that I know of, but somehow that's where I was. Now I learned something else valuable today....the OPTIONS button! Anyway, you computer people continue to impress me. What would we illiterates ever do without you?! :D

Desperately need a vitamin D supplement. I've reacted to most brands I've tried.

I do not know this, but since they are labelled gluten-free, and are not really a product that could easily be contaminated when making them (there would be not flour in the air of such a facility, for example), I don't really see contamination as something to be concerned about for this type of product.

Thanks @Scott Adams. Do you know if Kirkland Signature supplements share facility and production lines with other products containing gluten?  I'm worried that I'll react to this brand just like I did with other gluten-free labelled supplement brands.

This is a really common area of confusion. Most natural cheeses (cheddar, Swiss, mozzarella, Parmesan, brie, camembert, and most blue cheeses) are inherently gluten-free, and you’re right that the molds used today are typically grown on gluten-free media. The bigger risks tend to come from processed cheeses: shredded cheese (anti-caking agents), cheese spreads, beer-washed rinds, smoke-flavored cheeses, and anything with added seasonings or “natural flavors,” where cross-contact can happen. As for yeast, you’re also correct — yeast itself is gluten-free. The issue is the source: brewer’s yeast and yeast extracts can be derived from barley unless labeled gluten-free, while baker’s yeast is generally safe. When in doubt, sticking with whole, unprocessed cheeses and products specifically labeled gluten-free is the safest approach, especially if you’re highly sensitive.
