Medication -- Heart Medication

Not sure if anyone has gone through this or not....

I take a beta blocker for my pulse and was wondering if anyone has gone through pregnacy where they were on heart medication? What safe medicine did your dr put you on? And that is also Gluten Free?

I have a check up appt with my heart dr this month and was going to ask him and then the next week I have my yearly appt with my Gyno and was going to talk to him about it as well. Just trying to do some research ahead of time.

I have a call in with my Gyno office they are going to check on some meds that I can call the manufacture on and see if gluten free. I just don't know anyone who is gluten free and on heart medicine wanting to have kids.

My husband and I always thought we had time to wait to have kids. But with my Gyno wanting to do a laparoscopy possibly to check for Endometriosis we are just at the point where I/we are nervous about things and if we are still going to be able to have kids. I am thinking of getting my heart medicine changed now to something safe so I can get the medicine out of my system that is not okay to be on if preg. and start to take approprate prenatals etc. I am jumping it some possibly with the worring and all but I guess that is how I am...I like things planned ahead especially if we are able to have kids I don't want anything in my system that shouldn't be so trying to plan months.... ahead.

Sorry for the rambling....

Thanks for any input

Well I had my heart appt check up last week and my wellness exam this week. Talked to both drs about medicine and heart dr brought up two and my gyno said no to one of them and said this other one (sorry they are at home written down) that he suggested.

My gyno is scheduling me in for a laparoscopy (nervous about) and then we will go from there.

Pretty much when we are ready to have a child if still possible and if I do get preg then we would change the heart medicine right away. Guess the old medicine leaves the body quickly.

Now after the laparoscopy depending on what the results are we still have to figure out with my heart/pulse situation if it is safe for me to go through pregnacy. My husband and I want kids but he said if I would be in any type of danger or life threatening then he doesn't want to take the chance of anything happening to me.....

Just keeping our fingers crossed that things go okay during this process.

If anyone has been in this type of situation or similar please share any info you have =)

Thanks and Happy Holiday!

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
