Will A New Pediatricain Diagnosis By Diet Alone

My husband got a job 6 hours away. We are going to have to move. My son, age 11 was diagnosed by diet alone. He was throwing up 10 times a day and I was eager to do whatever I could do make him better. There were many visits to the doctor and many medications and tests and diet modifications. Then I tried a gluten free diet and it worked like a charm. By the time we got back to the doctor it was too late for testing. Will we be able to find a new pediatrician that will accept his diagnosis by diet alone? His present pediatrician has no problem with it. She saw his symptoms and their resolution. I don't want him to have to do a gluten challenge. He was so sick before he missed 49 days of school. I can't imagine him being able to attend school while on a gluten challenge. We need a doctor who will accept the diagnosis so that we can do things like keep him out of cooking class at school. The school will want doctors instructions for that. He is very sensitive to small amounts of gluten. I am so worried about this. How easy is it to find a new pediatrician who will help?

Get a copy of your child's medical records, and include in it a letter from your doctor stating the circumstances and the fact that your son does better on a gluten free diet, the symptoms that have improved, and that it is recommended to stay on the diet.

Also, contact the local Celiac group in your new area and ask for a referral to a good local ped. who is aware of Celiac/gluten concerns.

Get a letter from your current pedi before you move. It won't matter to the school that the dr isn't in the town u live in. Make sure they make the letter a part of his permanent record.

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
