Are These The Right Tests?

These are tests that are still pending:

Gliadin IgA, Gliadin IgG, Transglutamin IgA, Transglutamin IgG, Endomysial Ab IgA, Quantitative IgA

Of course my H. Pylori test came back negative. If I'm above or below any of these ranges, does that prove or disprove celiac?

Thanks!

Those are the right tests for Celiac.

The total/quantitative test is not a Celiac test, per se - instead, it looks to see if you are IgA deficient. If you are, then the IgA based tests won't be accurate. If you are IgA deficient, you could have Celiac, but test negative for it.

No one test is perfect for Celiac, but the tTG & EMA tests are newer and generally more sensitive/specific.

When you have these blood tests are they looking for low or high numbers? Here are the numbers I had;

IgA 84 (lab range 81-463)

IgG 1136 (lab range 694-1618)

IgM 54 (lab range 48-271)

My doctor says I do not have celiac disease. I have been having a tough fall and winter with fatigue, brain fog, joint pain, etc. My thyroid TSH was slightly elevated at first but has since come down to a normal range. I have had a lot of blood work. The only other one that came up abnormal was the ferritin level that was very low. Any help of these blood tests would be appreciated.

Hi ticketlady,

The tests that you posted are not for Celiac. Doctors often run the "IgA" test in conjunction with the celiac tests, but the total IgA is not a Celiac test, itself. How did you doctor determine you don't have Celiac? Did you have any tests run that say things like anti gliadin (AGA), tissue transglutaminase (tTG) or endomysial (EMA)?

Ticketlady Newbie

I thought those were the tests I was looking for. She also did Tissue Transglutaminase Antibody (IgA), and Endomysial Antibody Screen both of which she said were normal but did not give me numbers. She was the one who suggested I could have celiac and I want to make sure the proper tests were done and right now from what I read here I don't think I've had the correct tests. I know she has screened me for Lyme, HepC, inflamation, Rheumatoid Arthritis and othe things that I can't recall at the moment.

The tTG IgA and EMA screen are the two most sensitive/specific tests for Celiac. It doesn't mean you don't have it since you tested negative, but the chances are lower given negatives on both (which is why she doesn't think you have Celiac).

The Lindt (Lindor) dairy-free oat milk truffles are definitely gluten-free, and (last time I checked) so are the white chocolate truffles and the mint chocolate truffles.

I've used magnesium taurinate and magnesium taurate vitamins.  Didn't notice much of a difference when I used them.

More great tips, and a good excuse to shop at M&S and also buy more iced buns!   I wish we had an ASDA near us, as the few times we've been to one their gluten-free pasta range seemed very reasonably priced compared to other shops.  Thanks so much, @Russ H.
