Mixed Alcoholic Drinks

Hello, I am 22 and was wondering what alcoholic mixed drinks are safe? Like the ones you get at clubs?

I have a grocery shopping guide book but under alcohol it just states that all distilled alcohol is gluten-free.

What does distilled mean? I understand I cannot have beer or malt beverages.

The drinks I am most wondering about are the following, and the ingredients I am pretty sure they contain;

Strawberry strippers-(strawberry pucker & orange juice)

Bullfrog-(Lime flavored Vodka & Sprite)

Any list of any others that are safe will help me out, or any info you have about the 2 I listed. Thanks! :D

just wondering if anyone knew if jack daniels and cola the premixed one is gluten free?

or bundaberg and cola is gluten free?

I can't help with those particular brands, just thought I'd chime in. Usually it's necessary to try to track down the manufacturer and ask. It's a little frustrating, but I've found the best strategy (at least for me) is to memorize a few brand names I know I can have and then stick to those. It gets expensive, but I think it's better than taking chances on flavored alcohols.

Some things I order when I'm out are

vodka and cranberry - if I can confirm the brand of the Cranberry - Ocean Spray is OK

Malibu on the rocks, or with pineapple juice, if it's Dole

rum and sprite or Coke - any kind of clear, unflavored rum

Jack is Ok, and Coke is okay - I don't know about the premixed variety.

Hope this helps!

Smirnoff vodkas (even the flavored ones!!) are gluten free as well :)

Maker's Mark and Coke is good. Malibu, and sprite, coke, pineapple, etc. Tequila sunrise. Margarita's check the premixed ones though. Daquiri's with fresh fruit not mixes.

Hope i could help.

When they say distilled they are referring to the hard liquor because when it it processed no gluten is left in it or something like that.

Actually distilled is a purification process, having nothing to do with gluten. However, it is used on hard liquors to remove impurities. However, if the liquor in question was fermented from wheat, rye, or barley, do not drink it whether or not it is distilled.

There are other Celiac genes. HLA DQ 2 and HLA DQ 8 show up in people from Northern European descent.   People of Mediterranean descent have HLA DQ 7.  People of Asian descent have HLA DQ 9.   There's other Indigenous populations that have other HLA genes that code for Celiac disease.   Are you still having symptoms?   What do you include in your diet?  Are you vegetarian? Are you taking any prescription medication?  Omeprazole?  Metformin?   Do you have anemia?  Thyroid problems? Are you taking any vitamins or herbal supplements?

There are eight essential B vitamins.  They are all water soluble.  Any excess of B vitamins is easily excreted by the kidneys.   Thiamine is Vitamin B 1.  Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.  Benfotiamine and TTFD are forms of Thiamine that the body can utilize very easily.   The form of Thiamine in the supplements you mentioned is Thiamine Mononitrate, a form that the body does not absorb well and does not utilize well.  Only about thirty percent of the amount on the label is actually absorbed in the small intestine.  Less than that can actually be used by the body.  Manufacturers add thiamine mononitrate to their products because it's cheap and shelf-stable.  Thiamine and other B vitamins break down when exposed to light and heat and over time.  Thiamine Mononitrate is a form that does not break down over time sitting on a shelf waiting for someone to buy them.  What makes Thiamine Mononitrate shelf stable makes it difficult for the body to turn into a useable form.  In fact, it takes more thiamine to turn it into a useable form.   Gastrointestinal Beriberi is a localized shortage of Thiamine in the gastrointestinal tract.  High carbohydrate meals can result in gastrointestinal symptoms of Gastric Beriberi.  Fiber is a type of carbohydrate.  So, high fiber/carbohydrate snacks could trigger Gastric Beriberi.   Since blood tests for Thiamine and other B vitamins are so inaccurate, the World Health Organization recommends trying Thiamine and looking for health improvement because it's safe and nontoxic.
