I don't know if any of you have noticed, but in the one Safeway in Regina they have a fridge freezer by the bread section that has a bunch of Kinnikinnick products.

What I love is that a couple of times I have been lucky enough to catch it when it was on their Club card special. It actually ended up being cheaper than buying right from the company.

Just thought I'd give everyone's a heads up in case they didn't already know select Safeway locations do sell specific gluten-free. Kinnikinnick was definitely the last thing I expected to find there!

Safeway gluten-free stuff isn't cheap here and rarely is it on sale. But I'm used to Save-On Foods so I'm biased. I recently moved back down to southern Alberta and so no more Save-On for me! I guess I'll have to suck it up and go to Sobeys and Safeway again.

It's a good thing they have sales where you are.

here in BC, safeway also carries gluten free cereals, bob's red mill stuff, gluten-free frozen waffles and mi-del cookies. Times are changing!

Yeah they have a lot of the gluten-free Bob's red mill flours, also. An entire section of them. I just wish that ALL locations had the same kinds of foods! Sucks when you have to run around the city to the different Safeway stores just to find something that you're looking for.

I've never checked for waffles...which company of them?

I think that they are Nature Valley (???) At my safeway, the waffles are in the regular freezer section, not in the bakery section with the kinniwick (sp?) stuff. They are in a "special food" section not with glutenous waffles.

I find that Thrifty Foods here on Vancouver Island to be quite reasonabley priced for gluten-free products. I did some comparison shopping at my nearby Save-On-Foods and found them to be a bit pricier. I'm just happy to learn that quite a few of our normal products are actually gluten-free and it's not always necessary to purchase more expensive ones.

Some Sobey stores are getting really good. My sister asked at the one near her and they gave her a list of all the gluten free items in the store. I also noticed they are carrying a new company out of PEI that makes gluten free flours.

I did some comparison shopping at my nearby Save-On-Foods and found them to be a bit pricier. I'm just happy to learn that quite a few of our normal products are actually gluten-free and it's not always necessary to purchase more expensive ones.

Thrifty Foods are way less expensive than our local health food store. The health food store is a good start for someone starting out on this journey like myself.

I get a few things at Safeway - check out their own brands for a gluten free list online - surprisingly there are quite a few products. As for Kinnikinick stuff, definitely cheaper than our health food store, and it goes on sale periodically here too (just isn't in the fliers).

Also - I was in our new expanded Shopper's Drug Mart the other day - they have quite a few gluten-free products - cereal, chips, 'granola' bars, etc. They carry Riceworks chips but they also have their own knock off brand that says gluten free on it - bought some but haven't tried them yet.

      I'm no longer dealing with constipation. I got my liver test last month and it was in normal range. Two years ago I did have a vitamin D deficiency but I'm know taking vitamin D3 pills. Last month I got my vitamin D checked and it was in normal range. I don't believe I've had my choline checked. However, I do drink almond milk eat Greek yogurt on a daily...

      If you have hemorrhoids 1x weekly I don't see how you have time to heal from one episode before you experience another one, unless each one is a very minor event. Have you consulted a physician about your hemorrhoid issue? It's not normal to be having an episode every week unless it is really one episode that is not completely healing between weekly...

      Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity (NCGS) can be associated with low ferritin and iron deficiency. Once Celiac Disease (1% of the population affected) has been ruled out by tests the next step is to check for Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity (10% of the population affected) by eliminating gluten for a trial period, then re-introduce Gluten Challange. Have you been supplementing Iron? How are your liver enzymes? Low levels of ferritin indicate iron deficiency, while  59% transferrin saturation indicates high iron levels.  Possibly indicating Fatty Liver Disease.  Choline is crucial for liver health, and deficiency is a known trigger for Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver.  Some experts say that less than 10% eat the the Food and Nutrition Board established Adequate Intake that are based on the prevention of liver damage. Severe constipation and hemorrhoids may be linked to a bile or choline deficiency.  "Ninety-five percent of phospholipids (PLs) in bile is secreted as phosphatidylcholine or lecithin."  Fatty acid composition of phospholipids in bile in man   Deficiency of these bile salts causes the bile to get thick. Some people with Celiac Disease are misdiagnosed with Gall Bladder bile issues.  Removal of the gallbladder provides only temporary relief. Whether or not celiac disease or NCGS are your issues you need to look at your vitamin D blood level.
