Autoimmune Disease And Histocompatibility

Are all Celiacs Disease sufferers mutts? Improperly bred? A man on an Anthropological website seems to think that if people bred, married and conceived children based on them being histocompatible , they would not have autoimmune dieases. I guess there are a ton of mutts out there, because there are a lot of people with autoimmune disease.

There is a dating website based on matching people to someone with the same histology, but it costs $2,000 and when on sale $1,000. I'd like to look into it. I'd have an Ape's baby if I thought it would be spared Celiac Disease. Or a goat in my case.

Histocompatibility is defined as "a state of tolerance that allows some tissues to be grafted effectively to others". I read that in the Merriam Webster's Collegiate Dictionary

What do you think? And would you marry a person who matches your tissues and cells? Flesh of your flesh and bone of your bone? I would, but I think the government owes it to us civilians to pay for and arrange such things and I think they wait too long to do it.

Having children with someone with the same genetic background would actually increase the chances of having a genetic disorder come to the forefront. That's why we don't reproduce with our brothers and sisters.

I think you'd better reexamine having children with anyone. No one can promise you a undamaged, disease-free child. And, if you are fortunate enough to get a child who appears to be at birth, there is no saying he won't fall off the monkey bars and become damaged. Becoming a parent means assuming the risk of another human and all their potentials, good and bad.

Think about it some more. It's great job that I wouldn't trade for anything, but it is fraught with risk.

Couldn't have put it better myself!!

Of course I would LOVE for my son NOT to have celiac disease...... I would also like him NOT to have Down Syndrome....but s**t happens ;)

IMO there are ALOT worse things that a child could have than either of the above.

What if you hypothetically got the 'perfect' child.....but they were run over by a car.... or fell out of a tree and were left brain damaged/disabled???

um, isn't this alot like choosing to marry only for money or status? ie, who cares if s/he is a dork/mean person as long as our bank accounts are compatible? Just because tissues and cells match does not mean personalities will, let alone whether that person will be a good partner with whom you want to raise children

from an intellectual point, I guess this is an interesting thought but I agree with the other posters.

My feeling is much like the rest of the posters. My bigest concern is that the government should not have to pay for such a notion just so you can achieve an objective. I don't believe the "government" owes you anything.

If the government don't owe us nothing then what do we need a government for? - to supply all the loony-bins with bullets I guess. Maybe I'm a little bit socialist, sort of like Sweden.

I rather marry a tissue matching person than marry someone I like but have no tissues in common with .And Hell,I like just about everybody ,so I'm sure to find some tissue matches I like, also.I'd give it a try,

I don't intend to marry my own brother or sister-that sounds totally backwoods ding-dong to me. But you can be properly bred with a person who is not too DISSIMILAR nor too different,to benefit one's own flesh. I heard that would prevent Autoimmune conditions. If I ever marry a dissimilar person I'll tell them that "I LIKE THEM DESPITE THE FACT THAT THEY MAKE ME SICK,AND COST ME GREAT EXPENSE FOR GOING WAY OUT OF MY WAY".

Mice actually prefer to mate with mice who are more dissimilar at the HLA loci. It's diversity that gives you greatest defense against pathogens.

Why would marrying someone who is dissimilar to you make you sick?

You might want to do a bit of study in genetics. Marrying anyone dissimilar is not going to increase your chances of being sick and marrying someone with the same genetic makeup is going to INCREASE your chances of passing on hidden genes for disorders that require two genes for presentation, one from each parent. Even ancient tribes knew enough instictively to look for mates outside their own tribe. The looking outside the tride for mates even exists in tribal society today. Perhaps you might want to consider booking an appointment with a doctor who specializes in genetics and have a talk before you spend thousands of dollars to accomplish the opposite of what you want to do.

In general with pharmaceutical products cross-contamination is a much lower risk.

Here is more info about how to do a gluten challenge for a celiac disease blood panel, or for an endoscopy: and this recent study recommends 4-6 slices of wheat bread per day:

Just so you'll know, once you have been gluten-free for any length of time, it will invalidate testing for celiac disease.

Yes. I have not been tested for celiac. It took forever to get diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. lol. I have an appointment with my regular GP later this month and will convey my findings on improved symptoms and see what his thoughts are. Thank you.

@Grahamsnaturalworld, It's never too late.   Have you been checked for Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth?  SIBO can cause ongoing symptoms.  Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) and Histamine Intolerance (HIT) can also be the cause of ongoing symptoms.  The AIP diet can help with these by starving out SIBO bacteria and calming the immune system. Do you include dairy in your diet?  Casein in dairy can cause an autoimmune response the same as to gluten.  Have you been checked for lactose intolerance?  Some people lose the ability to produce the enzyme, lactase, needed to digest lactose, the sugar in dairy because the villi where the lactase enzyme is made are damaged.  AIP diet excludes dairy. Do you include grains in your diet?  Gluten free alternative grains and ancient grains can be inflammatory and cause symptoms.  Some people with Celiac react to corn and oats.  The AIP diet excludes all grains.  Lectins in grains can be inflammatory and cause symptoms. Do you eat nightshades (tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, and eggplant).  This family of plants produce glycoalkaloids, chemicals that promote Leaky Gut Syndrome.  The AIP diet excludes nightshades.   Are you on any medications?  Some medications can cause gastrointestinal symptoms.  Do you take any supplements?  Some herbal teas and supplements can cause digestive symptoms.  Medications for diabetes, antidepressants, and other pharmaceuticals can cause digestive symptoms as side effects. Have you been checked for nutritional deficiencies?  Malabsorption of essential nutrients can occur with continued symptoms.  Deficiencies in Niacin, Thiamine, and other B vitamins can cause digestive symptoms.  Gastrointestinal Beriberi and Pellagra are often overlooked by doctors because they are not familiar with nutritional deficiency disease symptoms.  Nutritional deficiencies can worsen over time as stores inside the body are depleted.   Have your doctors checked for all these?   I had a horrible time getting my symptoms under control.  I had to answer all these questions myself.  Yes, it's frustrating and exasperating because doctors don't have to live with these symptoms everyday.
