Does anyone know if we need to buy gluten-free sunscreen? And, if so, what brands are safe?

Coppertone is safe :D

You're better off with a gluten-free sunscreen, though it's not 100% necessary. The gluten molecule is too large to be absorbed through the skin. If, however, you have sunscreen on your hands and then eat something w/o first washing them, you could get contaminated. So with children, it's probably advisable.

I reacted to Neutrogena suncreen and I didn't realize that it had gluten in it.

celiac3270 is right, but if you put suncreen on your face and then sweat... it will go into your mouth. That's how I got sick (I bought Neutrogena suncreen for my face). I use Banana Boat with no problems.

Thanks! We had a beautiful day here in Iowa today and I took my little one out without sunscreen for the first time in her life because I wasn't sure. Now tomorrow she can be safe from gluten AND the sun! Thanks!

I'm confused... I thought Neutrogena products were gluten free...

Only some Neutrogena products are gluten-free. I posted under products a while ago a list of gluten free products by them..take a look at it to make sure :D

The Neutrogena suncreen I used had oat extract in it. I had to look at the non-medcial ingredients, which were not on the bottle (I had to look online).

Thanks rmj when I first rang up it was we can't do it without , but I talked to a lovely lady and she sorted it all out for me, so it pays to be persistent , I would have had to decline if I hadn't been given the water option too , so yes I'm glad too 😌

I’m so glad they listened to your concerns!  I hope you get some answers from the MRI.

Had my MRI today I didn't have to have the manitol with my allergy's , I just had a litre of water , they were great with my concerns , so let's see if anything comes of if will keep posted once I have results 👍

Thank you ,it’s been a long road for me for having both now ,what upsets the most is that if they discovered that I also have cealiac earlier I would not have injested gluten if I was aware. Double whammy.
