Are we especially sensitive to ice cream also, to the lactose or casein or guar gum which replaces the gluten, which from what I read did in mayny years ago or may still cause digestive issues. I just had some and got the intense abdominal pain as if i just ate gluten. It comes and goes.

Dairy is incredibly hard, if not impossible, for some Celiacs to digest and it could be the casein or the lactose. Doesn't really matter because it will make you feel just as bad, either one. If it's a lactose problem, it could clear up after healing occurs or you may be able to tolerate small amounts. I gave up on the milk and ice cream because it just wasn't worth the grief afterwards. I can tolerate a small amount of milk in my tea but forget the glass of milk! :(

I am, but its the casein for me. Instant D and pain in the tummy almost immediately.

Are there tests to show lactose or caesin intolerance? Or is a simple an elimination of them in the diet all we need to diagnose one of these intolerance?

I believe allgery tests are available. For me, before the confirmed allergic reaction test, I self tested. After noting in a food journal about 3 days the only common factor was casein products (milk, cheese)...I didn't eat any for a day, noticed improvement. I decided to test my theory and eat some. Sure enough..reaction. Afterwards my doc tested me for allergies to certain foods. Sure enough dairy was there.

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
