Is this even possible? What should I tell the waiter? I am really new to this and could use the help. Thanks

Call ahead or visit, if possible and speak to the manager during non-busy hours. Many large restaurants maybe familiar with the diet and may offer options and some have gluten free menus.

But, it's pretty important to do your homework before you go, just like you're doing now. ;)

Thanks, that is helpful. I always order seafood & plain veggies, so I just need to verify a understanding of cross contamination, marinades or spices. I know the Outback steakhouse has a gluten free menu too.

If you order a steak grlled on the charcoal or baked fish and a baked potato, with a salad/no croutons, you can't go wrong. I eat at restaurants all the time, with ease. Like at Applebees, I order the salmon, no sauce, it comes with rice and a veggie. At Noodles I order the buttered rice noodles with chicken and veggies. At Wendy's I have a baked potato with chili and a Frosty. At Chinese restaurants you can order steamed veggies or those made with the white sauce and chicken or shrimp, usually beef dishes are made with soy sauce, unless we know who made it, we can't have that. By the way, LaChoy is gluten-free.

Get out there and have fun.

I hope you like salad . . .

I try to use simple terms to the waiter. So, I say I have a "severe allergy to gluten" (even though it is not an allergy, I know....). I ask for my food to be cooked plain (like chicken and veggies), with no sauce, and I ask them to cook it in a separate pan and to make sure my food does not touch anything else. Even though it is not very exciting to order a plain grilled chicken breast with steamed veggies, the more bland/simple your order is, the less likely you are to get glutened. Just keep it short and simple. Good luck! :)

I agree with everything posted. I would add though if you are going to order grilled meat..have them grill it on foil. It takes a couple minutes longer..but it will be safer from cc. Also, I carry a small tupperwear of seasoning with me. So the food isn't boring. You can also ask for lemon wedges and olive oil for veggies. A1 for steaks. There are options out there.

Best of luck!

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
