Saw A Gi This Morning. . .

I saw a GI this morning because of some rectal bleeding, diarrhea, and stomach pain. I saw him a few years ago shortly before I was diagnosed with Celiac, but I didn't go back after my PCP told my I had celiac. I just didn't see the need.

I was discussing some of the symptoms of my kids, and mentioned how they vomit after they have had gluten. He told me that "vomiting is NOT a symptom of Celiac". I stayed very calm and told him that my kids (especially the littler ones) almost always vomit after they have been glutened, and he said "well, I'm not saying they don't have celiac, but vomiting is just not a symptom of celiac."

It is sad how little these doctors know about Celiac!

But on the other hand, he is running a whole bunch of tests, starting with a follow-through x-ray of my small intestines and a colonoscopy. He said he is looking for intestinal lymphoma. I am really worried about that now. I am really anxious to get the results.

Please pray that it is nothing serious! I looked up this cancer, and it has a very low survival rate.

Praying for you that he does not find what he is looking for. But then, maybe he doesn't know a lot?? :lol: People with celiac don't vomit?? :rolleyes: Extra tests can't hurt in ruling out other diagnoses :P

Please let us know how you fare on the test. One word of caution, if they are using a bariun solution for this test make sure it is gluten free. The gluten free form is a thin liquid not thick and will have the consistancey of water.

Oh please! (throwing up is not a sign!) My poor son was throwing up his entire childhood, and I've spent my adulthood frequently doing the same, especially the older I got. Just blows me away at how little our front line of doctors know about this disease! When is this going to change?

My GI doc ordered a CT scan of abdominal and pelvic areas, looking for the same. Apparently there's a small percentage of celiacs that get this specific type of lymphoma. My CT scan was normal, all was good, but I know how scary it is to just be sent for something like that. It's one thing to read about it (the possibility), but entirely another to be the one sent for a test for it! Hopefully everything will be fine with you, and you'll feel relieved that you had the tests done. Think of how many people are walking around with something unknown inside of them - - at least I now have the benefit of knowing, and that peace of mind.

Ok, I don't know if yall will believe this, but here goes.

Today the GI doctor CALLED ME to APOLOGIZE for telling me that vomiting is not a symptom. He said that after our conversation, he got to thinking and went and did a little research, and he found out that it IS a symptom. He said he wanted to apologize because he likes to tell patients about things that he knows for sure. He also said he didn't want me to lose confidence in him.

I couldn't believe he called me! That just blew my mind! I don't know if a doctor will EVER apologize like that to me agian! I now respect the man even more because this proves that he is willing to admit that he has made a mistake.

I believe you and it sounds like a doctor who is willing to learn. Good for him. My GI did the same when I was finally diagnosed as he didn't even consider doing an endo because my blood work was negative. It is nice when doctors are willing to admit they are human.

      I appreciate you validating me because medical is an issue and it's not ok at all they they do this. Some days I just want to call the news media and just call out these doctors especially when they are supposed to be specialist Downplaying when gluten-free when they should know gluten-free is false negative. Now dealing with other issues and still crickets...

      M&M Peanuts. About the same calories and sugar while M&M Peanuts have fiber, potassium, iron and protein that Tootsie Rolls ("We are currently producing more than 50 million Tootsie Rolls each day.") don't.       I see it everyday on my feeds. They go out and buy gluten-free processed products and wonder why they can't heal their guts. I don't think they take it as a serious immune disease. They pick up things off the internet which is so far out in left field. Some days I would just like to scream. So much better when we had support groups and being able to teach...

I keep thinking that things in the medical community are improving, but a shocking number of people still post here who have already discovered gluten is their issue, and their doctors ordered a blood test and/or endoscopy for celiac disease, yet never mentioned that the protocol for such screening requires them to be eating...

Now dealing with other issues and still crickets for disability because I show no signs of celiac BECAUSE IM GLUTENFREE! Actively dealing with sibo and skin issues.Depression is the key because thats all they know, im depressed because medical has caused it because of my celiac and related issues. I should have never ever been employed as a bus driver.After 3 years still healing and ZERO income desperately trying to get better but no careteam for celiac other than stay away frim wheat! Now im having care because my head is affected either ms or meningioma in go in tomorrow again for more scans.I know im slowly dying and im looking like a disability chaser

Click the links to compare nutritional values.  Both are made with sugar, not high fructose corn syrup.  I use them as a gluten free substitute for a peanut butter sandwich.  Try her on grass fed, pasture fed milk. While I get heartburn at night from commercial dairy milk, I do not from 'grassmilk'.

I just had an EMA blood test because I haven't had one since my Doctor moved away.  Got test results today, doctor ordered a D3 vitamin test.  Now you know what  type of doctors we have.  Now I will have to pay for this test because she just tested my D3 end of December, and still have no idea about my EMA.

      Thank you for the kind words! I keep thinking that things in the medical community are improving, but a shocking number of people still post here who have already discovered gluten is their issue, and their doctors ordered a blood test and/or endoscopy for celiac disease, yet never mentioned that the protocol for such screening requires them to be eating gluten daily for weeks beforehand. Many have already gone gluten-free during their pre-screening period, thus their test results end up false negative, leaving them confused and sometimes untreated. It is sad that so few doctors attended your workshops, but it doesn't surprise me. It seems like the protocols for any type of screening should just pop up on their computer screens whenever any type of medical test is ordered, not just for celiac disease--such basic technological solutions could actually educate those in the medical community over time.
