Sigmoidoscopy Results Normal

So I just got back from my sigmoidoscopy. If I eat corn or (gluten free) grains of any kind, I have horrible, horrible, diarrhea. I still have diarrhea when I don't, but it's tolerable and I can make it through life without being two feet from a bathroom at all times. My doctor ordered this sigmoidoscopy for me, and I had to not eat for 24 hours before hand, take laxatives the night before, and then do two enemas the morning of. It said on the bottle of the laxative, that you should see results within a half, to six hours, but with the way I have diarrhea, I figured the laxative would start working in ten minutes tops.....but nothing ever happened. I had a little bit of movement, but nothing really out of the ordinary. Mostly I just passed more water, but again, nothing too concerning or like how you would think laxatives would effect you. But, since I had only been drinking clear liquids for the passed 32 hours or so (because my appointment was scheduled for the morning, and I stopped eating at dinner time the night before last), I shrugged, figuring this must be right. I completed the two enemas this morning, and nothing came out but clear water, so I thought I was be completely cleared out. But then when they were performing the test today, they actually asked me if I had been fasting or not, and if I had failed to complete the enemas? Does this make any sense? Could this be some sort of sign or indicator of why I don't have normal bowels?

I had many doctors tell me this was normal. BUT I just saw a doctor who FINALLY admitted that this is, in fact, NOT NORMAL. Haven't completed any tests yet, but when my new amazing doctor and I figure out what the problem is, I'll post it. Not that anyone ever responded to this....but it could help someone else in the future.

I hope they figure out what is going on for you. Are you gluten free? There are some of us who do better with no grains at all. If you are having difficulty with a no grain diet perhaps post asking others what they are eating and some may have suggestions for you. If there is anything we can help you with please do post again. I'm sorry you didn't get any response to your last post sometimes if no one has any answers that happens.

I am gluten free. I have been gluten free since 2007, and grain free for about two years.

I just wanted to keep updating what has been going on with me, because it could help someone else.

Since the original magnesium citrate cleanse (two years ago) didn't work, my doctor had me do it for a second time, where again, nothing happened. I felt pretty nauseous for about 4 hours and my stomach was gurgling, but that was all that happened. So then he told me to take 230 grams of Miralax with 64 ounces of a sports drink. As I cannot have any sports drinks, I had coconut water instead, as it is high in electrolytes. This time my stomach gurgled a lot...but again, NOTHING else happened. I didn't even have any type bowel movement that day. I took the Miralax at 8am, and had a small bowel movement the next day at about 1pm. My doctor told me I would be spending all day in the bathroom. Turns out that's just not true for me. I forgot to mention that he also took an x-ray of my abdomen, and he says there is no mechanical blockage, but that there is a lot of stool. Luckily I am seeing him tomorrow, so hopefully we will think up the next steps to take.

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
