Okay, so I'm new to this forum, and I've found it super helpful. I've been gluten free for 6 months now, and dairy free for three years.

Anyways, while reading through this site, I almost need a translator! Here are some things I have come across..

g.f. which I assume means Gluten Free

CC..cross contamination?

D

DD

DH

...

others?

Ex: "There was some cc and now I'm feeling serious D" or "my dd was glutened"

Want to let me in the loops so I know what i'm reading? Thanks a bunch.. ;)

Devon

D = diarrhea

C = constipation

cc = cross-contamination or cross-contact

DD = Dear Daughter

DS = Dear Son

DW = Dear Wife

DH could have the usual chat meaning of Dear Husband, or here it could mean Dermatitis Herpetiformis

g.f. is gluten-free, if you type it without the periods it will change automatically (not a good thing if you meant girlfriend)

c.d. is celiac disease, if you type it without the periods it will change automatically (this can cause confusion if you meant a Compact Disc) :lol:

A couple more that come up often refer to stores:

TJ = Trader Joe's

WF = Whole Foods Market

mushroom Proficient

And don't forget ED (explosive diarrhea, not the other meaning :lol:)

BIL and SIL and MIL --brother, sister and mother-in-law

And then there's the really medical ones -- SLE (lupus); EE (eosinophilic esophagitis), etc. You are probably going to just have to google these ones like a lot of us do :D

Roda Rising Star

Funny I always wondered also and sorta just figured out by the context around it. Didn't know the actual words the abbreviations were for though. :lol:

      BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

      Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

      This is an older article, but may be helpful.

      I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

      Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
