Here it is 6 months after going Gluten Free. Can't say I feel any better and maybe now I know why. I met with a nutritionist two weeks after my diagnosis. The only two things I asked her to confirm for me that were gluten free were Centrum vitamins and Fiber Choice supplements. I sat in her office and watched her look up the ingredients...therefore I continued to take them. With my last bloodwork turning up positive for gluten, I did a little more investigating.....with one search on this website, I found that Centrum vitamins are not gluten free (posts from 2008) !!!!!!!! ARRGGHH!!! Lesson learned the hard way......check everything yourself and thanks to those who are posting great information and valuable help!!!!!

2. Is Centrum gluten-free and is it safe for people with celiac disease to take?

Yes, Centrum is gluten-free and suitable for individuals with celiac disease.

This appears to be the current information on their website.

I found this also, but was unable to find info or a site for the US. This site is a in Canada. Has anyone found a site that is US related?

I would consider dropping both and then if symptoms resolve add each back in one at a time and see if a reaction occured.

Here is an American reference, with ingredient listing:

If I recall correctly from past threads, Centrum would not confirm nor deny their gluten free/or gluten status due to the changes in their suppliers. Which is a statement that we find more and more. My above post would certainly be the more recent.

In my stupidity, I just bought a new bottle 6 weeks ago and didn't read the ingredients (I'm pretty sure the old version was fine?).......it clearly marked maltodextrin on the label........shouldn't we avoid?...sooooo confused...........I counted back the leftover pills and did discover that problems started around when I bought the new bottle.....

Maltodexrin is safe as it is corn derived here in the US. If the problems started when you started the vitamin there may just be something in it that does not agreee with you.

I would suggest stopping them and then seeing if the issue stops. You could try switching brands and using ones that are for sure allergen free. County Life will list if they are gluten, casien and soy free and so willl NOW. You could also try stopping them, if you improve then add them back in and see if the issues come back.

I noticed with the Fiber Choice that some of them have sorbitol, some of us do have problems with sorbital even though it is not gluten. I would also try dropping that and then adding it back in and seeing if issues arise again. Fruits and Veggies and whole grain rice and such should help you get the fiber you need without the supplement.

One more thing, when you say your blood tests came back positive for gluten how positive were they? Have they gone down a geat deal since you were first diagnosed. If you are not having any symptoms and your levels were quite high when you started the diet they may just not have had time to go down to 'normal' levels yet.

So far 3 months in - worsening symptoms. I have had the worst constipation in my life and I am primarily eating naturally gluten-free foods like potatoes, eggs, salad with homemade dressing, corn tortillas, etc. I hate gluten-free bread and pasta so I don't eat it. Occasionally I eat gluten-free almond flour crackers. As stated in the post, I don't have any vitamin deficiency. I was already tested.

Talk to your  Talk to your provider about testing for vitamin and mineral deficiency.  celiac disease causes malabsorption and eventually malnutrition.  Especially vitamin D. Having the gallbladder removed seems to be a common step on the way to a Celiac Disease Diagnosis,  Gallbladder is a sympton of deficient Choline. Eggs and red meat are the primary source..Choline makes up a majority of the bile salts.  The bile gets thick, doesn't get enough into intestine to digest fats well.  Can eventually back up into gallbladder, cause gallstones.  Without bile, bowel movements can become hard. Try to avoid all processed foods while you are healing, The gluten-free foods are not fortified with vitamins and use various ingredients to mimic fat that bothers many Celiacs.  Choose vegatables with low omega 6.  Optimum omega 6 to omega 3 ratio is less than 3:1.  Wheat flour is 22:1.  Grass fed milk is 1:1.   Commercial Dairies milk is 5:1.  They feed wheat, rye and barley Gluten as part of the food mix.

Your DGP-G is also high. The thing to do now would be to trial the gluten-free diet for a few months to see if there is improvement in symptoms.

Welcome to the forum, @Roses8721! How long were you off gluten before getting the celiac blood testing done? The testing is not valid after having been gluten free for a significant period of time. Many of your symptoms align with celiac disease.
