So I still feel bad even after going gluten free. Or am I really gluten free? I thought I had checked everything out..... but maybe wasn't careful enough..............please help with these tricky items.

Basmati Rice? (Big burlap bag from Costco)

Shredded Cheddar Cheese (King Soopers/Kroger Brand)....just cheese or not?

Starbucks Vanilla Lattes!!!

I have checked all prescriptions and thought the above mentioned items were safe!!

Please help me feel better!!!

I use the Basmati Rice from Costco (in burlap bag) often, and have never had an issue with it.

Sorry you're still feeling bad. I've been there, and still have days like that sometimes, due to cc.

The other week discovered my MIL had a stash of playdough for my 3.5 yr old to play with when I'm not home (they were thinking it was safer to use pd when I'm not home). It contaminated the fridge door, the kitchen counters, the dining room table, and anything else they touched, including clean dishes out of the dishwasher. Nice, huh? I dearly love my 3 yr old, even when she stuck her playdough cc finger in my mouth for fun. :o

Things could be worse. I'm good now. :) Hope you feel better soon.

Myself I wouldn't touch anything from a starbucks. Could you delete those from your diet for a couple of weeks and see if that helps? As for the shredded cheese I don't know about that brand but I do know of one brand that I used to use that wasn't safe because of the stuff they use to keep the shreds from sticking. For that I would call the company and ask. I stick with Kraft shredded cheese or Food Club brand.

There is also the possiblity that you need to be dairy free right now, at least until you heal. In addition many of us have other intolerances most commonly to dairy and soy. You could try dropping both and then adding each in one at a time after you heal to see if those are causing issues.

I was also going to suggest that you may be intolerant of other foods. A big percentage of gluten-intoleant people are also dairy-intolerant. I have issues with rice also and I know that it's supposedly a "safe" grain in the Celiac world. I would eliminate the dairy for awhile and see if things improve. If not, then try the rice. Don't do both at the same time, because you wouldn't know which was affecting you if you suddenly improved. Best wishes!!

My mother had once been told if she asks the person making her coffee to please use a clean sterilized pitcher that it would be ok, so long as what she is DRINKING is gluten free. However, she still had issues. She no longer goes to starbucks. I've not had starbucks in over two years. I can make a latte at home. For alot less.

I would definitely cut out the starbucks latte's to see if that could be (one of) the culprit(s).

Oh and as far as cheese. I only buy kraft.

Is there a digestive enzyme that helps build a healthier gut? I see people taking them but not sure what really works

So the tTG-IGA at 28 is positive for celiac disease. There are some other medical conditions that can cause elevated tTG-IGA but this is unlikely. There are some people for whom the dairy protein casein can cause this but by far the most likely cause is celiac disease. Especially when your small bowel lining is "scalloped". Your Serum IGA 01 (aka, "total IGA") at 245 mg/dl is within normal range, indicating you are not IGA deficient. But I also think it would be wise to take your doctor's advice about the sucraid diet and avoiding dairy . . . at least until you experience healing and your gut has had a chance to heal, which can take around two years. After that, you can experiment with adding dairy back in and monitor symptoms. By the way, if you want the protein afforded by dairy but need to avoid casein, you can do so with whey protein powder. Whey is the other major protein in dairy.

hi, i want to say thank you to you and @trents   . after 2 phone calls to my GI, her office called me back to tell me that a blood test was “unnecessary” and that we should “follow the gold standard” and since my biopsy did not indicate celiac, to follow the no dairy and sucraid diet. i luckily have expendable income and made an appt for the labcorp blood test that day. i just got my results back and it indicates celiac disease i think 😭   im honestly happy bc now i KNOW and i can go gluten free. and i am SO MAD at this doctor for dismissing me for a simple blood test that wouldn’t have cost her anything !!!!!!!!!!! im sorry, im so emotional right now, i have been sick my whole life and never knew why, i feel so much better already   my results from labcorp:   Celiac Ab tTG TIgA w/Rflx Test Current Result and Flag Previous Result and Date Units Reference Interval t-Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA 01 28 High U/mL 0-3 Negative 0 - 3 Weak Positive 4 - 10 Positive >10 Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) has been identified as the endomysial antigen. Studies have demonstrated that endomysial IgA antibodies have over 99% specificity for gluten sensitive enteropathy. Immunoglobulin A, Qn, Serum 01 245 mg/dL 87-352

      Thank you this really helped.

Okay that is really good to know. So with that being positive and the other being high it makes sense she diagnosed her even without the endoscopy. So glad we caught it early. She had so many symptoms though that to me it was clear something was wrong.   yeah I think we had better test us and the other kids as well.
