Burts Bees Lip Products

Glutinator

Glutinator Newbie

I've been trying to find a gluten free lipstick for my daughter. I read an old post on here that had a list of Burt's Bees products that are gluten free. I spoke with a customer service rep at Burt's Bees today to confirm that their Lip Shimmer product was gluten free. She told me that they will not guarantee that ANY of their lip products are gluten free because they cannot guarantee that their suppliers are not using gluten. I'm glad I called before letting my daughter use this product!

Burt's Bees is under new ownership.

That said, the "we cannot guarantee" disclaimer is fast becoming universal because, like it or not, it is the truth. All of these manufacturers buy ingredients from outside sources and none of them are willing to accept legal liability for a possible error by a supplier.

Unfortunately, things have changed at Burt's Bees. They used to be very gluten aware and had great customer service.

Although pricy, I use Afterglow lip products. All gluten-free and even made in a gluten-free facility.

Yikes! I've been using their lip products for some time now...sounds like I need to throw them out? If they can't be more clear about whether or not there is gluten in these products, I don't trust them. But it seems like there are a lot of threads about BB and they have conflicting opinions as to whether the lip products are safe or not. However, just about all the products reviewed in the forums have many different opinions as to whether they are safe.

I put on over 12kg by eating protein with every meal, 3 to 5 times a day. Eggs, Chicken, Tuna, Turkey etc. I stay away from too much red meat as it can be inflammatory. Scott is correct. I've come across a bunch of Coeliac PT's on Tiktok and Instagram. They all say the same thing, the key is getting enough protein and consistency.

It's great to hear that eliminating gluten has helped alleviate symptoms like eye burning, which is a significant and positive change. The first and most important step is to ensure you're consuming enough protein throughout the day to support muscle repair and growth, which can be challenging with a busy schedule. Since you're already physically active at work, adding focused strength training just 2-3 times per week can make a major difference. Bodyweight exercises like squats, push-ups (modified if needed), and lunges, or using resistance bands at home, are excellent, efficient places to start. Remember, consistency with these short sessions and prioritizing post-workout recovery, including good sleep and hydration, are just as crucial as the workouts themselves. It's a smart, gradual process at any age.

Trader Joe's carries a good variety of affordable gluten-free foods like bagels, hamburger buns, pasta, etc. I like Franz Gluten Free bread, which is available at my local Costco. Food For Life and Little Northern Bakehouse (advertisers here) also make excellent gluten-free breads. Costco also sells gluten-free pizzas, crackers, gravy, etc.
