They Got Me!

I've been eating gluten free at Pei Wei every week with no problem but on Friday night they got me!!!!

I've had anxiety, heart racing, D then C, horrible stabbing pains and I'm so bloated I look preggo. I weighed myself and I gained 5 pounds from yesterday to today in water and bloating.

Gah!!! I need to call them tomorrow when it's not so busy and let them know they need to be more careful.

I'll give them another chance. They glutened me once out of like 20 times I've eaten there. But darnit. It is true that every time you eat out you take a risk, but the alternative really sucks.

You poor thing ... I'm so sorry! And on a holiday too!

Sorry that happened. I haven't chanced it for some time. Too chicken. I get glutened enough as it is.

I'm sorry you got glutened. I hope you feel better soon. Every time we go out we are playing roulette. That's why I don't eat out very often.

Ugh! I just ate there today. I was happy they had a gluten free menu, but I most certainly understand how risky it is for us to eat out no matter the precautions they take. Hope you feel better soon.

I hate that happened to you! I have eaten out 3 times since learning of my Celiac status. I had one good experience. My dietition said you have to live, but right now, I'm having too much pain in my own home. I hope you feel better soon!

I eat out at most twice per month. I seem to get glutened or at least CCed about 1/3 of the time. IMO the alternative doesn't suck that much.

That's awful! I eat out a lot and I've only been glutened 3 times. Once it was McD's fries. They must have messed up the dedicated fryer. I will never eat McD's fries again. The second was Daphne's fries. Won't eat fries except In N Out now. Then Pei Wei.

But I've seriously eaten Pei Wei at least 20 times since diagnosis so that's pretty decent odds. I've never gotten sick from them before.

It's not an easy choice whether to eat out or not, but the lifestyle I lead demands it.

I eat a lot of dairy but its intermittent is this burning so I would assume it would happen all the time. Plus I have been tested for lactose intolerance  etc and I am fine and the other symptoms of that I don't get. As a aside  my dad died last month after a long illness so I wonder if the stress of that might be a influence as a bodily reaction to stress.

You should be fine.  You may start feeling better within a few days.  Someone who is very low in thiamine may notice improvement within hours.   Did you get the NeuroMag  or another magnesium supplement?

Yes Bobs redmill cgf oatmeal I started when I became gluten-free. So taking all 3 with breakfast should work? Will I notice any reactions getting used to these or should I be fine. Thanks

Hello, @pilber309, welcome to the forum! Are you currently consuming dairy?   You mentioned something about lots of yogurt and cheese, but did you cut it out or are you eating lots of it?   Could you clarify please? Some people with Celiac react to casein, the protein in dairy the same as to gluten with antibodies and villi damage.
