Summer Treats (Ice Cream, Etc)

I hadn't put any thought to this until my parents recently mentioned they had wanted to get my son an ice cream treat then realized they shouldn't.

Are there ice cream brands known for being gluten free, or at least "gluten friendly" where some flavors are fine? And what about things like snowballs, etc?

This is something that I know when we're out and about can make for fun treats, but - perhaps not so much.

My famiily has had no problems with going to DQ for ice cream. At least not so far.

We do DQ. Just be careful with the mix-in kinds. They might have made an oreo or cookie dough one right before yours and they don't clean between mixings. I think a lot of the prepackaged ice cream bars, fudgesicles, popsicle things are OK. Check the ingredients or website if there is a brand or kind you like. Also, Frosties at Wendy's are supposed to be gluten-free (once again, watch the mix-ins). My son got m&m but there was some oreo in his -not sure which place we were at. Doesn't matter to him.

The Vanilla and Chocolate soft serve at DQ and Dilly Bars and Starkisses are gluten free. Dairy Queen had a great list of gluten free items on their website which was recently updated. McDonald's ice cream and chocolate and vanilla milkshakes are also gluten free. Breyer's Natural Ice Creams (chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry) are gluten free.

Most of the fudgisicle ingredients which I've come across contain gluten (malt flavoring) and some popsicles also have gluten in them. All Dove chocolate ice cream products are gluten free. I hope this helps. I was recently diagnosed but have been researching this are because I love ice cream!

I eat Luigi's Italian Ices from the grocery store. They are gluten-free and have a variety pack of 3 flavors. Not bad at all. Add a little soda to the top and let them thaw a bit and the are a little fancier.

I eaten numerous snowballs and none have given me any trouble.

      I saw the thing for testing for gluten when at public places.I absolutely love but I wonder if they would come up with a bracelet or necklace that can detect gluten in the air.I would LOVE that, i know i get debilitating migraine from smelling gluten wheat what have you, all I know is when I go into places like Chevron- gluten Subway, migraine, Costco that...

      Thank you so much for your help, @trents and @Staticgypsy! I so appreciate your thoughts. My diet is high in foods with oxalates and I don’t notice any issues there. If eliminating gluten from my diet had changed anything I’d be happy to just keep on the gluten-free diet, but with eating gluten several times with no rash, and having a rash when I was man...

      I saw the thing for testing for gluten when at public places.I absolutely love but I wonder if they would come up with a bracelet or necklace that can detect gluten in the air.I would LOVE that, i know i get debilitating migraine from smelling gluten wheat what have you, all I know is when I go into places like Chevron- gluten Subway, migraine, Costco that food smell of nasty gluten- migraine and same with Walmart subway.I absolutely HATE im that sensitive, my body reacts.Sadly medical hasn't taken core issue of celiac being an issue considering glutenfree ever since 1994 and in their eyes not because they didn't diagnose me. I am and wish I wasn't. If there was a detector of gluten in the air it would make a world of difference.
