What Do I Do If Want To Give One Individual My Home Email Address?

I'm new to this forum and have benefited from it more than I can say. I was very fortunate and found someone who not only lives close by but shares my interests. I just moved here from another state and I would like to get together. I'm not big on my personal information being out there on the Internet but I would like to be able to email her from home in case she's not online. Is this allowed? If so, how do I go about it. Would emailing her on her page be private enough?

Thanks for everything you are doing here. Finding this forum couldn't have come at a better time. I'm in the midst of a flare and I've already learned so much and gotten so much support from the other members.

Loey

P.S. Why do some threads list me a a new community member and others as an advanced one?

Loey:

You can click on that person's name and it will take you to their profile. There you will see options to send a personal message that is private between the two of you.

Members status is based on the number of posts that are made.

Personally I've given my email addy to a couple of forum members. You can get a feel from the posts they've made. Life is full of taking chances...heck, as celiacs every time we put something in our mouths, we take chances. If I found someone who lived closed to me with shared interests, I'd go for it...that does not mean that I indiscriminately give out personal info.

Another thing you can do is set up an email for solely people from this site, (or any other site you join) and that can be listed for people to send you things. This is what I do for this and another forum I am a part of.

But personally, I like Private Messaging people, quick and easy, and I can do it while I am signed on and I don't have to look at two different screens while doin so.

Thank you for the helpful advice. I wasn't sure how you went about setting it up. I've made contact and am looking forward to meeting someone who lives here. She's offered to take me to the Support Group when it resumes it's meetings.

I agree with you that we take a chance every time we put something into our mouths. As a newcomer to this disease I'm still trying to find my triggers and I think I'm going to just stick to rice, protein and fresh vegetables and see how that goes. I'm in the middle of a terrible flare and am in pain constantly. I'm waiting to hear if my insurance company approved my capsule endoscopy for Monday. Before I moved my GI made all of my testing a priority because I was bedridden for 6 weeks and needed to have results to bring with me. Initially I was feeling better but feel like I'm back at square one. My new GI says that I must be eating something that has gluten in it but I've been extremely careful. I'm planning on eliminating dairy for now as well. I just want to feel better.

You've answered my posts before and I really appreciate the support I've gotten from you and everyone else here. Hopefully I'll be able to help others.

Dairy yes...it can mimic the gluten effect. And try to keep a food diary. It can help you pinpoint an issue.

You're welcome, Loey! That's what makes this forum so great! Very helpful people here, some of whom have been gluten free for years and they know a whole lot more than I do. I don't know of any local support groups around here...I'm sure you'll meet a lot of nice people and learn a lot.

I think Lisa has a great idea...keep a food diary. I never did and sometimes it's really hard to pinpoint what's bothering us. If you were bedridden for six weeks at diagnosis, no doubt in my mind that you were terribly ill and dairy should be given up and eat really clean by eliminating processed foods. Also, in my mind you might want to pretty well give up eating out for awhile as the risk of cross contamination is so great. You might also have other intolerances that you don't even know about yet.

We have to remember that we didn't get this way over night and it's just going to take time to heal. Easier said than done as we all want instant results. I hope your insurance company approves the capsule endoscopy for you!

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
