We're going to my niece's birthday party today. I just talked to my sis and she's getting Cici's pizza for the party. I miss pizza. My kids know they can't eat it and they'll be fine. My sis is great - she offered to bring something we can eat, but she has to feed almost 30 people so I told her not to worry.

I was already planning to bring gluten-free muffins for my kids to eat instead of the cake. Now I need to bring something for the kids to eat when everyone is having their pizza, too. /sigh

Is there somewhere you can bet a gluten-free pizza to take? We have several places. You could get some frozen crusts and make them a pizza to take. Easiest if they feel and look like they are eating the same thing everyone else is.

No place close enough to buy a ready-made pizza. We can get crusts but I'll have to run to the store. Probably right, it is best if they have something similar to eat.

If your kids can have dairy . . . something that I do with my daughter is send the snack size nachos lunchable from Oscar Mayer. It's the one that contains only tiny corn tortilla chips, salsa and cheese. Then she's eating something that the other kids can relate to.

The other thing she likes . . . we call them pizza dippers. We use the pizza flavored breadsticks from Glutino which she dips into a little container of ragu pizza sauce and then sprinkles some shredded mozerella on top and pops them in her mouth. Not something that I would eat ('cause I think pizza kinda things should be warm and melty) but she likes them.

I am sooo sick of pizza at the parties. I usually make it. Now we have Garlic Jim's. I can order gluten-free pizza, but it is expensive. There is also Bostons's where I can get it to go.

I always send kiddo with his own individual gluten-free pizza and his own piece of cake. We make pizza once a week. It's really not that hard. If you mix up batches of the dry ingredients and put in ziplock bags it really doesn't take that long. As for the cake, when we have cake I always cut a few pieces, wrap them in plastic wrap, and then freeze them. When a party comes up, just pull one out of the freezer and pair it with the individual pizza and you're good to go. The pizza freezes really well, too. Then all you have to do is heat it up right before you go.

A benefit my kiddo has found - he always gets HIS favorite cake and pizza, instead of what the birthday kid likes. He loves ham, pineapple, mushroom pizza. Let's face it, you're not going to find that at many birthday parties!! He's not a huge fan of white cake, so he always takes chocolate. He likes always having chocolate. And when he was younger I would always decorate his in a way he would like - use his favorite color, put Skittles on top, make it look like a Lego piece, etc. He really liked that.

I made a quick run to the grocery store and picked up some frozen gluten-free pizza crusts (Conte's pasta co?), pepperoni and cheese. We already had pasta sauce at home, so prep was easy. First pizza I've had in months and it was quite good.

DS is quite bloated now though - the pizza was the only suspect thing he's eaten. He's also sensitive to tomatoes though and we were so excited to eat pizza I didn't even think to make him some without sauce. I hope it's the tomatoes and not the crust because I can't handle a glutening. Eek!

The party went much longer than planned and we actually left before cake was served so the kids didn't really miss anything. But I had yummy pumpkin muffins ready for them to eat instead of cake.

My 3yo is silly... at one point he had a minor meltdown because he wanted cake, not a muffin. He was very upset when I told him the cake had wheat in it and he insisted "my cousins CAN'T have wheat!!" I finally got him calmed down and he was fine after that. Poor kid knows he can't have wheat, but is still learning that others can. :(

Yeah, its hard. My 4 yo keeps asking when he can go back on his wheat diet, and its been over a year now. Its just so hard sometimes.

      I appreciate you validating me because medical is an issue and it's not ok at all they they do this. Some days I just want to call the news media and just call out these doctors especially when they are supposed to be specialist Downplaying when gluten-free when they should know gluten-free is false negative. Now dealing with other issues and still crickets for disability because I show no signs of celiac BECAUSE IM GLUTENFREE! Actively dealing with sibo and skin issues.Depression is the key because thats all they know, im depressed because medical has caused it because of my celiac and related issues. I should have never ever been employed as a bus driver.After 3 years still healing and ZERO income desperately trying to get better but no careteam for celiac other than stay away frim wheat! Now im having care because my head is affected either ms or meningioma in go in tomorrow again for more scans.I know im slowly dying and im looking like a disability chaser

      M&M Peanuts. About the same calories and sugar while M&M Peanuts have fiber, potassium, iron and protein that Tootsie Rolls ("We are currently producing more than 50 million Tootsie Rolls each day.") don't. Click the links to compare nutritional values.  Both are made with sugar, not high fructose corn syrup.  I use them as a gluten free substitute for a peanut butter sandwich.  Try her on grass fed, pasture fed milk. While I get heartburn at night from commercial dairy milk, I do not from 'grassmilk'.

      I see it everyday on my feeds.  They go out and buy gluten-free processed products and wonder why they can't heal their guts.  I don't think they take it as a serious immune disease. They pick up things off the internet which is so far out in left field.  Some days I would just like to scream.  So much better when we had support groups and being able to teach them properly. I just had an EMA blood test because I haven't had one since my Doctor moved away.  Got test results today, doctor ordered a D3 vitamin test.  Now you know what  type of doctors we have.  Now I will have to pay for this test because she just tested my D3 end of December, and still have no idea about my EMA.

      Thank you for the kind words! I keep thinking that things in the medical community are improving, but a shocking number of people still post here who have already discovered gluten is their issue, and their doctors ordered a blood test and/or endoscopy for celiac disease, yet never mentioned that the protocol for such screening requires them to be eating gluten daily for weeks beforehand. Many have already gone gluten-free during their pre-screening period, thus their test results end up false negative, leaving them confused and sometimes untreated. It is sad that so few doctors attended your workshops, but it doesn't surprise me. It seems like the protocols for any type of screening should just pop up on their computer screens whenever any type of medical test is ordered, not just for celiac disease--such basic technological solutions could actually educate those in the medical community over time.
