9 times out of 10 it is ok but you have to check on it because it CAN contain gluten. I have run into things that had gluten in the MFS. Always check

Thanks, I noticed it on the ingredient list on the Miricle Whip jar.

KaitiUSA Enthusiast

If I remember correctly, Miracle Whip is a Kraft brand correct? Kraft will not hide anything so the ingredients are safe unless the label says wheat, rye, barley, oats right on it

Carriefaith Enthusiast

If the Miracle Whip is Kraft than you should be able to eat it as long as there is not gluten listed in the ingredients. The modified food starch would have the source clearly labeled if it was gluten based.

So if it had MFS and it is not made by kraft, or any other safe companies, you should call the company? And what? Ask them if the product is gluten-free? Or a more specific question?

Thanks--Liatt

If it's Kraft or another company that clearly lists gluten, you know it's gluten-free unless it lists gluten as being in it (usually in parentheses).

If it's a regular brand, you need to call to ask the source of the modified food starch (wheat, corn, rice, etc.) or you can simplify it and ask if the product is gluten-free.

Yep I ditto what celiac3270 just said. If it is in one of the safe companies who will not hide anything then you do not have to call. For other brands you have to call and you can just ask if the product is gluten free and that's a specific enough question.

Sorry, I think I got you mixed up with another poster.

I hadn't been eating gluten free before having the antibody test done. I started eating gluten free after having the test done because the gastro PA told me to eat gluten-free for 6 months. I'm now 3 months in.

I tend to agree with RMJ. Your doc took the reasonable and practical approach to diagnosis. All things considered, it was the right way to go. However, if you have first degree relatives that show signs of possible celiac disease, urge them to get formally tested before they start the gluten free diet.

It sounds like you have a very reasonable GI doctor, who diagnosed you based on family history and symptoms after eating gluten. I would consider you lucky! The other option would be to make yourself very sick by doing weeks of a gluten challenge prior to an endoscopy.

Hi Colleen H,   I suffered with the pins and needles/burning feeling in my legs and feet for at least  6 years until my Nephrologist figured out that I had to go on a low salt diet.  He said my kidneys weren't strong enough to remove the salt.  The simple fix was a diuretic, but that med leaves the uric acid behind, so that wasn't an option.  On the bright side the low salt diet lowered my BP over 20 points and and the pins and needles/burning feeling went away.  Good Luck and hope this helps.
