Do I Have Celiac Disease?

Hello, I just joined.

I am in the process of cutting out all Gluten, as you all know it is difficult to begin!

I have not been diagnosed, but I have had people tell me and have done research, it seems like I have it.

I usually eat a sandwich for lunch, after lunch I get extremely bad gas, it hurts to pass it and it smells VERY bad, sorry to be so descriptive, but I hope I am not the only one.

I am 26 and I have had problems with my anus for around 7 years, I have had internal hemmoroids removed, it pains me to go to the bathroom, and my whole day is ruined after I do go to the bathroom.

The doctors keep giving me the runaround...please, if anyone has any experience or just an idea of what is wrong I am open to hear it.

thanks in advance.

Joe

Hi Joe:

Well, your problems certainly COULD rise from gluten intolerance; at this point there is no way of knowing. If you do not wish to be tested for celiac disease (a blood test) then you can certainly do as you are doing and eliminate gluten from your diet. This is one of the surest ways of finding out whether you tolerate gluten, and is the quickest and least expensive if you don't want to go through the testing process. Bad, evil-smelling gas after eating, and constipation (which leads to hemorrhoids) are both associated with gluten intolerance as you probably know. I don't know how many other medical things might also cause those two symptoms, but not eating gluten is a way to find out if that is it. :)

Welcome to the board and I agree with Mushroom. Do be strict with the diet and read as much as you can here to keep yourself safe. Ask any questions you need to.

I will, thank you for being so kind.

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
