Vitiligo

Hi people

I have mentioned that I am currently seeking diagnosis, so I am very interested in listing my huge ;) array of symptoms for my doctor.

I have a patch of vitiligo on my torso, close to my right hip bone. It has grown somewhat over the last year, and is now approx 30 cms sq.

I have never done anything about this, its not bothering me and causes me no problem, but I have read that there is some thoughts of a link between vitiligo and celiac disease. Does anyone have any thoughts about this, please?

Thanks - FS xx

First let me say, that I am totally new to all this. But I also have questions regarding vitiligo. However I don't have it. I was recently told that I have celiac (due to a positive blood test) although I have an endoscopy scheduled for tuesday to confirm. I'm really starting to think my parents have it. I'd like them to get tested. My mom has had vitiligo since at least her teens. She has it all over her body and face and it has always bothered her. Her hair also started turning gray early.

I would definitely mention it to the doctor, but you may find they dismiss it. In my experience (which again is not much) the doctors only paid attention to the digestion problem I told them about.

Hi

Thanks for the responses.

Don't have much, just this one patch. I'm definitely not African American, very very pale skin. Dont ever sun bathe, don't ever use UV lights.

Whatnext, I pretty much relate to what you are saying. My extensive list of other symptoms was completely ignored. I know they are gluten related (because of experience) but they get largely dismissed.

I have been told by my doctor that unlikely to have celiac disease although my mind and body is telling me something quite different. ;) Awaiting a consultation with Gastro specialist. I live in the UK so we wait and wait for appointments.

The Lindt (Lindor) dairy-free oat milk truffles are definitely gluten-free, and (last time I checked) so are the white chocolate truffles and the mint chocolate truffles.

I've used magnesium taurinate and magnesium taurate vitamins.  Didn't notice much of a difference when I used them.

More great tips, and a good excuse to shop at M&S and also buy more iced buns!   I wish we had an ASDA near us, as the few times we've been to one their gluten-free pasta range seemed very reasonably priced compared to other shops.  Thanks so much, @Russ H.
