I am going to be taking a business trip at the end of this month and will be staying outside of Atlanta. The biggest grocery chain that is in the area is a Food Lion and I have no idea what to expect. Does anyone know if they carry gluten-free food?

The Food Lions in NC have a frozen gluten-free section as well as dry foods. In a larger metro area, I would expect that it would be plentiful. You should have no worries.

When in doubt, you could always find the local healthfood store there.

When I was there on vacation a couple of years ago, they had Whole Foods if you need bread. I mostly just got yogurt & stuff at the small grocery by my hotel. I brought some stuff from home, too.

Most Food Lions in that area have a smaller scale gluten free section. It's near the wine. I'd highly recommend driving into the city though if you're not incredibly far out...the options there are awesome.

I live in Virginia, but I have Food Lions all around me. I have found the selection varies greatly from store to store. There are a couple Food Lions that have huge Organic's sections with an aisle of gluten-free food and even a freezer case. But most of my FL stores have very little except for the mainstream items like Chex cereals. And in those stores without the organics section the gluten-free items are scattered throughout the store-- BC cookie mix is in the baking aisle with the regular cookie mixes, etc. So if you have achoice of which FL to drive to to look for food and they are in opposite directs or far apart you might want to save yourself some time and call them. Ask if they have a large organic section and what their selection of gluten-free food is like. If that store says they don't have very many organics you could ask if they know if the other FL's nearby have it.

Also for FL you will want to get an "MVP" card to get the sales prices. It's free to sign up. Soem stores will have a coutesy card you can use if you tell them you are from out of town and don't have an MVP. Most store will tell you to sign up at CS first.

When I was there last summer there was a great whole foods store. I never went myself but the person who did the shopping came back with a bunch of stuff labeled gluten free and said there was so much she didnt know what to get. Even in the prepared foods section, they reassured her that everything is prepared separately and no switching of spoons (the staff served it). The shopper was a nutritionist so she knew what questions to ask. Maybe there will be a whole foods near where you are going.

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
