Hello everyone!!

I am new to these boards but was wondering if there was anyone on here from the South East Missouri area? I have not yet formally been diagnosed but I am hoping to hear from my Dr any day now with my Celiac Panel test results!

I'd love to hear from anyone in my area or close to my area!!

Hi! I'm actually from the Kansas side in KC, so really, nowhere close. And after that baseball game today, I think my dog in my picture may have had the right idea. He refused to wear the Royals hat. :lol:

That game today was PITIFUL!!! :( We gave up a comfortable lead and then barely won it in extra innings!! But at least we won I guess!! :)

We're almost on the border of MO in AR... between Gainesville, MO and Mountain Home, AR.

Watching tornado warnings... ugh!!

Go Phillies!! (sorry... we moved here from PA and still love our Phillies!)

Scott City - north of Sikeston 20 miles or so.

I still have a sister and my mother living in SEMO, so I have made the drive on HWY 60 from Springfield through Dexter many, many times. I've seen the sign for Fisk.

We are lucky that Springfield is big enough to have some health food stores to buy gluten-free supplies. We even have a local support group, but it's mostly older people, and my son is the only family member with Celiac.

Hope all is well there. We saw pictures of Joplin and it is terrible! The news said the hospital there took a direct hit.

Springfield got the thunderstorm, but the tornado activity went south of us. After it passed there was a huge double rainbow!

Wow!! Scott City huh? I go through there everytime I go to Cape!! Small world!

I am very worried about getting the diagnosis simply for the reason Poplar Bluff only has 1 health food store and I am merely assuming that they carry gluten free foods. I have been paying attention when I grocery shop (at wal-mart) to the amounts of gluten free foods available.

But I guess I will do the best I can with what I have to work with!!

Most health food stores carry gluten-free items, and most will special-order items for you if they don't already carry it. But with the internet you can always buy mail-order items yourself. The hard part is deciding what to buy, but eventually you figure out what things you like and don't like. And don't overlook local grocery stores or Wal-Mart - you can always ask them to carry specific items.

I don't buy a lot of pre-made gluten-free stuff - just occasionally pretzels and cookies. Mostly I buy gluten-free flours and bake everything myself - pizza crusts, bread, rolls, cookies, cakes, waffles, etc. My son never cared for pasta, gravy or casseroles, so that simplifies things. We do a lot of Mexican foods using corn tortillas and taco shells.

We had one health food store in Mountain Home... 25 miles away... now there are two!! Woo hoo!! At the one store, the owner offered to order anything I wanted/needed, but I had to tell him that while I certainly appreciated his effort to help me and how I'd like to patronize local businesses... gluten-free food is expensive and I can order from the online site w/ the name of the long river in So. America (I don't think we're allowed to say the name) and (when I plan to order my Pamela's bread mix and Tinkyada pasta and do it at the same time) shipping if FREE, not to mention the per-item cost is less. He understood completely.

      I appreciate you validating me because medical is an issue and it's not ok at all they they do this. Some days I just want to call the news media and just call out these doctors especially when they are supposed to be specialist Downplaying when gluten-free when they should know gluten-free is false negative. Now dealing with other issues and still crickets...

      Have Tru Joy Sweets Choco Chews been discontinued??

      M&M Peanuts. About the same calories and sugar while M&M Peanuts have fiber, potassium, iron and protein that Tootsie Rolls ("We are currently producing more than 50 million Tootsie Rolls each day.") don't. Click the links to compare nutritional values. Both are made with sugar, not high fructose corn syrup. I use them as a gluten free substitute...

      I see it everyday on my feeds. They go out and buy gluten-free processed products and wonder why they can't heal their guts. I don't think they take it as a serious immune disease. They pick up things off the internet which is so far out in left field. Some days I would just like to scream. So much better when we had support groups and being able to teach...

I keep thinking that things in the medical community are improving, but a shocking number of people still post here who have already discovered gluten is their issue, and their doctors ordered a blood test and/or endoscopy for celiac disease, yet never mentioned that the protocol for such screening requires them to be eating...

Now dealing with other issues and still crickets for disability because I show no signs of celiac BECAUSE IM GLUTENFREE! Actively dealing with sibo and skin issues.Depression is the key because thats all they know, im depressed because medical has caused it because of my celiac and related issues. I should have never ever been employed as a bus driver.After 3 years still healing and ZERO income desperately trying to get better but no careteam for celiac other than stay away frim wheat! Now im having care because my head is affected either ms or meningioma in go in tomorrow again for more scans.I know im slowly dying and im looking like a disability chaser

While I get heartburn at night from commercial dairy milk, I do not from 'grassmilk'.

I just had an EMA blood test because I haven't had one since my Doctor moved away.  Got test results today, doctor ordered a D3 vitamin test.  Now you know what  type of doctors we have.  Now I will have to pay for this test because she just tested my D3 end of December, and still have no idea about my EMA.

      Thank you for the kind words! I keep thinking that things in the medical community are improving, but a shocking number of people still post here who have already discovered gluten is their issue, and their doctors ordered a blood test and/or endoscopy for celiac disease, yet never mentioned that the protocol for such screening requires them to be eating gluten daily for weeks beforehand. Many have already gone gluten-free during their pre-screening period, thus their test results end up false negative, leaving them confused and sometimes untreated. It is sad that so few doctors attended your workshops, but it doesn't surprise me. It seems like the protocols for any type of screening should just pop up on their computer screens whenever any type of medical test is ordered, not just for celiac disease--such basic technological solutions could actually educate those in the medical community over time.
