Negitive Blood Test Now What?

My sons blood test came back negative. Dr. wouldn't even biopsy and even snapped at me when I requested one. I made it clear that I had tested positive and he had the same exact symptoms as I do/did, only he has had the symptoms since infancy. I didn't develop symptoms until later. She just got made and said, "He doesn't have it alight, you get it now? In a tone I found inappropriate.

I have a friend who's husband is a holistic practitioner, and while we were at their house today he confirmed my son was gluten intolerant, lactose intolerant and soy intolerant. Unfortunately his methods aren't accepted as medical evidence.

Here is the problem. My son spends one week at dads and one week at my house, back and forth. Dad and step mom refuse to be "inconvenienced" with out a positive test. He always comes to me feeling sick, but after a few days at my house being gluten free he starts to feel better.

I don't know what to do. I have thought about going to the courts, but what can I do with out evidence?

Any chance of taking him to a different doctor? One who might be more open to further investigation? Just for interest, what test(s) did she order? Can you get a copy of them and post results and ranges?

I would try to change doctors and get new tests done and if you wanted to get the biopsy. If you can swap make sure they do the full celiac panel. Then you can get a paper stating his diet for dad.

I really feel for you because my son tested negative but we didn't have to deal with the father/step-mother complication.

BUT...your sentence above has me wondering: If he doesn't eat gluten at your house, he may not be getting enough for a positive test. If you are going to have him re-tested, you would have better luck if he was on a gluten-heavy diet.

Other ideas would be to find a sympathetic doctor who will diagnose based on heredity, and response to the diet. You should also try to get his genes tested to confirm that he has the celiac gene. Have you gone to a celiac center or a teaching hospital? Perhaps you'll get lucky and have evidence to show at court.

Good luck and good health to your son.

I'd report her! She was completely unprofessional in my opinion. I would also seek a second opinion, you're entitled to one.

As far as I know and I have made severalonline searches, celiac disease disease has not been recognized as a cause of migraines or any eye problems. What I wrote must have been confusing.

Interesting, when I suffered for a few months with ectopics I noticed that carbohydrates would cause indigestion and bloating in my stomach, then that would lead to my heart skipping beats, and I could feel it in my throat, it was very unsettling.  My last serious bout of this was after eating a Muller Rice Pudding for breakfast.   I happened to be wearing a 48 hour halter at the time and cardiology picked it up, but they weren't worried about what they saw. There was some British doctor who'd made some videos on the Vagus nerve that I remember watching at the time which made sense of what I was experiencing, there did seem to be some sort of connection.

I asked my cardiologist about stopping vitamins.  He said his tests account for all detectable vitamins from sources other than food.  I only need to stop them for a couple of days.  He has me keep records of meds and vitamins I've ingested over the past 10 days and prior and he does his calculations.

Reply to treats I try and eat to bring up the glucose. Sometime I get up 3 times a night and eat something. I don't think food is the issue. A lot of the food they say should help doesn't.  Many mornings my level is 59 and I feel sick, sometimes for hours. It has been recommended I go to an Endocrinologist.
