Just curious - Why does it automatically put the initials "C D" (but put together) into the words spelled out, "celiac disease"?

Thanks!

There are a number of automatic substitution rules that affect your post. The most common two are gf becoming gluten-free and cd becoming celiac disease. We do this for a couple of reasons.

First, it improves the ability of search engines to find answers here when the terms are spelled out.

Second, it makes life simpler for frequent posters to just type two letters instead of spelling out these common phrases.

Sometimes it is disruptive, such as when a poster wants to refer to the latest compact disc release by a music artist.

If you really want to have the initials displayed, you can do that, as you can see from this post. Click on "Reply" to open a window where you can see how I did it. Then click on "Cancel" so as not to create an empty response.

Interesting! I figured it might have something to do with searches being easier. Just curious, thanks!

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
