Are Depomedrol, Lidocine, Marcaine, And Versed Injectables Gluten-Free

I am about to have a Thoracic Nerve Root Block, (basically an Epidural) where they will inject a Corticosteroid called Depomedrol, and Lidocaine or Marcaine on the never to stop the pain; I will be sedated first via IV with Versed, and I am wondering if anyone out there can tell me if these medications have gluten in them.

I have been searching the web and have not been able to find any information on them. :blink:

They should be but if in doubt call the doctors office and find out the company that makes them and then enter the name and the words contact info in a search engine to find out how to contact them and then call. In my limited, non professional experience most injectables if not all are safe.

Injectables do not have gluten.

I just had a surgery on my hand yesterday and was injected with Lidocaine. I got no bad reaction at all..except I wish it hadn't worn off. Ouch!

I don't think you should have any problems with the others either? Be sure to ask.

I've had my share of injections... Never any problems, but it never hurts to mention Celiac to the doc.

I am the worst cook and last year I made my own stuffing which was pretty darn good. Was so proud I tried it again for Christmas,

Every single expert I've ever read or talked to agrees -- injectables without exception do NOT have gluten. There's no need for concern.

      Small Bowel Resection 12 inches

      You might consider asking for a referral to a RD (Registered Dietician) to help with food choices and planning a diet. Even apart from any gluten issues, you will likely find there are some foods you need to avoid because of the shorter bowel but you may also find that your system may make adjustments over time and that symptoms may improve.

I believe a diagnosis would help me to be taken seriously by doctors as well as being validating, but can carry on without it.    There are many, probably most people in my area of my age and gender, who avoid gluten, but many just avoid it casually— eating the occasional plate of wheat pasta or a delicious-looking dessert, or baking cookies with wheat flour for gatherings.  That is not an option for me. I don’t eat other people’s cooking or go to restaurants that do not have strict cross- contamination procedures. It can be boring and lonely, and people do look at me as if I am being a bit dramatic but weeks of symptoms after a single small exposure has taught me to respect my experience.    Thank you very much for your response— sometimes I just need to hear that I am not crazy—

      I wish Dr’s would have these discussions with their patients. So frustrating but will continue to do research. Absolutely love this website. I will post any updates on my testing and results.  Thank you
