Symptoms Of Autism

Our Grandson who is 2 1/2 has been showing signs of a mild form of Autism. When he was 1 yr old and up until about 8 months ago he was progressing great. He would talk many words and had a good attention span. Now he dosen't talk and is very hyper. I seem to think there is the connection with the foods that he is eating that has made him like this. He is getting help with the birth to three program but they don't ever talk about food being the problem. I know there is a book out there that talks about the connection. Does anyone know of one? I have celiac disease and my family gets so tired of hearing about food and what it can do to you. Thanks, Grandma who cares... :)

There is a big connection between 'leaky gut' and autism. A good resource for you would be to see www.breakingthevicioussycle.info there is a chapter out the book by the same name as the site that is printed on the site to read. The printing of the book with this new chapter is not quite out yet. Also there is a site called Pecanbread.com it also has information and links about this connection. If you have celiac has any of the other family members been tested?

There are articles and links here about the prevelance of family members also having celiac and the need to test them do a little searching and you will find it.

I hope this helps. I know alot of kids with 'autism' have had great improvement through diet..

Also another thing to concider.. what immunizations did he have about 8 months ago.. or a little before that.. did he have the MMR that is a big irritator of the gut and could have triggered latent celiac. The measles portion in particular stays in the gut and stresses it.

Hi Lorrie:

There's a great website about dietary intervention for autistic spectrum disorders which is located at Open Original Shared Link This website providies information about autistic behaviors and dietarty intervention for parents and relatives of children with various autistic syndromes. Basically their dietary approach is to restrict all sources of casein (milk protein) and gluten, hence the 'Gluten-free Casein-free' diet term. I found that website after my lab tests revealed I was casein as well as gluten intolerant. I was desperate to find a list of ingredients to avoid so I could stay gluten AND casein free. :o I found that list on the Gluten-free Casein-free website and also ordered the Gluten-free Casein-free support group's grocery shopping guide about mainstream Gluten-free Casein-free foods/products . There are many other resources on that website, as well as testimonials from many parents who used the Gluten-free Casein-free diet and observed rapid improvement in their autistic children's behaviors. I hope that site helps you. :)

Some interesting articles regarding the use of Zinc Carnosine to help heal gastric ulcers, gastritis and intestinal permeability. I would consult a medical professional about it's use. https://www.nature.com/articles/ncpgasthep0778 https://www.rupahealth.com/post/clinical-applications-of-zinc-carnosine---evidence-review https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7146259/ https://www.fallbrookmedicalcenter.com/zinc-l-carnosine-benefits-dosage-and-safety/

He is. Which makes everything even more difficult. I’m not a believer in “staying for the kids” but I have nowhere to go and it’s not just me, it’s me plus my babies. We live in a beautiful place, lots of land in the country and me and the kids love the place we’ve called home for their entire lives. But Im seeing that he’ll never change, that my kids deserve a happy healthy Momma, and that staying in this as is will be the early death of me. Then I look at the scars covering my entire body…this disease and the chronic stress I’ve been enduring for years that tell me I’m no longer beautiful and no one will ever look at me with interest again. I try self care, try to give myself grace so I can just start loving myself enough to gain strength but the slightest sparkle in my eye and skip in my step attracts his wrath and it all comes crashing ten fold. Life is just absolutely railing me from every single direction leaving me wanting to wave that white flag bc I don’t feel like there’s much hope no matter what happens.
