Uh-Oh - Roaming Christmas Dinner

Okay, so I'm going over to my boyfriend's house for Christmas. I had a great plan for dinner - bring my own stuffing supplies and cook whatever vegetables and meat seperately in parchment paper. I'd bring gluten-free cookies and chocolate for dessert for everyone. However, I just learned that his family tradiationally does a roaming dinner with their friends in the area (so they go to one place for appetizers, another home for the main course, another for dessert).

Hmmm.....any ideas? I'm assuming I'm just going to have to bring my own food with me everywhere and hope it doesn't look too awkward....

Yeah, eat before you roam and bring some snacks to carry along.

Good news is that it sounds fun!

I'm sure it will be a lot of fun, and I am beyond ecstatic and grateful to be spending the holidays with them. I just hope I won't have to explain Celiac a dozen times to people who ask. I don't want his family to think it's a major issue when it's really something that I can manage just fine.

Typically, people are so buzzed at those things they can't see past their noses.

I am sure you'll handle it very well!

LOL! That's probably true! ;)

Thanks Scott. They are gluten-free but cross contaminated.

Hi there @MCAyr I have a small umbilical hernia which came about during my second pregnancy.   I can just about see it, and feel it, when I stand or sit, but it is far less noticeable when I lie down.  I always know when I am putting on weight because I can get pain and burning near the site, funnily enough not on the hernia itself but either side!  I would imagine bloating could cause the same effect as weight gain. In my case I don't think it is my bowel protruding but a bit of fat  - sorry,  I realise this isn't painting a very pretty picture.  But in truth it is scarcely noticeable.  It has never really got bigger in size. I was rather hoping that it could be operated on but here in the UK they don't seem to operate on every hernia anymore.  My GP isn't remotely worried about it. In a way, I should be thankful - it is like an early warning system that I need to go on a diet! Cristiana

The hernia description would likely be unrelated to celiac disease, but you'd need to get it checked out by your doctor to be sure it's a hernia.
