Cross Contamination

If you get glutened from cross contamination or a small/slight ingestion of gluten are your symtpoms less severe and/or do do you notice that you are not affected for as long a period of time?

I just got dosed by CC last night, and am off work today. Nausea, massive headache, D last night though thank God not today. Sore, joint pain. Fun times had by all.

I was CCed last week and it took me almost 9 days to totally rebound.

I get the whole fun package of symptoms: gastro (nausea, burning, abdominal pain, C then D ) neurological (anxiety, insomnia, depressive thoughts, agitation, "gluten-head" ) extra super-duper ramped up bone/joint/muscle pain and BURNING nerve pain :o ---oh, and an intense desire to kill the person who assured me the flourless chocolate cake was gluten-free. <_<

But, that's just my system. I was long unDXed and I'm still healing my gut.

Others rebound much quicker!

I don't know, because I haven't been glutened by anything BUT cross contamination for the 15 months or so I've been on the diet. It's pretty bad, though, and usually involves a couple of days of migraine, along with depression & irritability - and sometimes D and/or C. Personally, I feel like I'm more sensitive to trace gluten than I was before the diet. I really don't want to know what a large dose of gluten would do!

Does anyone have any tricks for getting past the symptoms in less time?

I just drink lots of water to flush and hydrate, eat plainly, take extra probiotics and rest and ride it out. Some people take warm baths.

It passes.

Unfortunately, there is no magic bullet that I know of. Bummer, I know.

:(

Thanks!

"Conclusions: The urinary iodine level was significantly lower in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis, and iodine replacement may be important in preventing osteoporosis"  Body iodine status in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis Low iodine can cause thyroid problems, but Iodine deficiency will not show up in thyroid tests.  Iodine is important for healing, its job is to kill off defective and aging cells (Apoptosis). Skin, brain fog, nails, muscle tone all inproved when I started taking 600 mcg (RDA 150 - 1000 mcg) of Liquid Iodine drops. Some with dermatitis herpetiformis, Iodine exacerbates the rash.  I started at 1 drop (50 mcg) and worked up to 12 drops, but I don't have dermatitis herpetiformis.

That's great news, you can do this.  Let us know how things go and don't hesitate to ask if you have any more questions. Cristiana 😊

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and I found myself giggling with happiness as I read how your body reached such spring! And I hope that your current journey is also successful!! Definitely starting the food diary! So many amazing advices. And it’s very scary. It really hits all our soft spots as well as our confidence system. Most doctors I went thought I was underage despite being in my late 20s. Right now I look like am I twelve, but is also this body that’s taking so much, so I might as well love it too! Going to make the necessary changes and stay in this path. Thank you again! 🫶

Thank you so much for the information and kind message! Reading this transformed how I’ve been viewing my efforts and progress. Guess there’s still a lot to celebrate and also heal 😌  Yes, I’ve been taking it! Just recently started taking a multivitamin supplement and separated vitamin D! I also took chewable Iron polymaltose for ferritin deficiency 2 months ago but was unable to absorb any of it.  Thank you again! Hearing such gentle words from the community makes my body and heart more patient and excited for the future.
