A year ago I started having sudden onset nausea. If i could sneeze it would immediately go away. Now one year later my symptoms have increased to the point of trips to the emergency room. I have lost 25 lbs, I suffer from constant belching, I have constant chest pressure and at times sharp pain in what feels like my heart. I oten have heart palpitations. I sometimes have a constricted feeling in my throat and a tingling sensation in my lower face and jaw. Occasionally I have blood in toliet after a bowel movement. I have trouble sleeping because of symptoms. My family are having a hard time believing me because my symptoms are all over the place. I am very depressed and unable to perform the simplest of task

I have a appointment with a gastroendinoligist this afternoon. I also have no health insurance. I m scarrd

I do not want to live like this anymore. Any advice on what to say or ask doctor. Please help i do not think i

can live one more day like this. Thanks for taking the time to read this, Laura

I am so sorry you are feeling so badly. It is very scary when you have these symptoms and you don't know what is going on. It is compounded by the worry about the cost of accessing care.

Be sure to make a written list of all your symptoms, maybe even print one for the doctor. It is easy to forget details that might be important for the doc to know.

So many things could be going on. I would worry especially about the feeling of pain near your heart, you definitely need a doctor to help you sort these things out...

Please do let us know how things go with the doctor, and let us know what tests he is doing. It is impossible for anyone to offer ideas at this point because there is no hard information to work with and most of us are not medical professionals. We can help interpret tests and share our experiences.

There are many, many people here who have been in that moment of having terrible symptoms, not knowing what is going on, and being very frightened. They are a wonderful support and I hope some of them will drop in here soon.

Hang in there, and stay in touch! Welcome, by the way!

I second what beachbirdie said, and while it may be too late for your dr's appointment, I'd also want to ask if you've noticed whether the symptoms are worse after eating any particular foods? It may be gluten, but it may also be something else like msg or soy or sulfites or artificial flavors (or some combination of those!).

Hopefully you get some answers from the Dr.

Welcome to the forum, @Ben98! If you have been consciously or unconsciously avoiding gluten because of the discomfort it produces then it is likely that your blood antibody testing for celiac disease has been rendered invalid. Valid testing requires regular consumption of generous amounts of gluten. The other strong possibility is that you have NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity) which shares many of the same symptoms with celiac disease but does not have the autoimmune component and thus does not damage the small bowel lining. It is 10x mor common than celiac disease. There is currently no test for NCGS. Celiac disease must first be ruled out. Some experts in the field believe it can be a precursor to the development of celiac disease. Having one or both of the primary genes for developing celiac disease does not imply that you will develop active celiac disease. It simply establishes the potential for it. About 40% of the population has the genetic potential but only about 1% develop active celiac disease.

TTG blood test and total IGA tested on many occasions which have always remained normal, upper GI pain under my ribs since 2022. I had an endoscopy in 2023 which showed moderate gastritis. no biopsy’s were taken unfortunately. genetic test was positive for HLADQ2. extreme bloating after eating gluten, it’ll feel like I’ve got bricks in my stomach so uncomfortably full. the pain is like a dull ache under the upper left almost like a stitch feeling after a long walk. I am just wanting some advice has anyone here experienced gastritis with a gluten issue before? thank you

"Conclusions: The urinary iodine level was significantly lower in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis, and iodine replacement may be important in preventing osteoporosis"  Body iodine status in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis Low iodine can cause thyroid problems, but Iodine deficiency will not show up in thyroid tests.  Iodine is important for healing, its job is to kill off defective and aging cells (Apoptosis). Skin, brain fog, nails, muscle tone all inproved when I started taking 600 mcg (RDA 150 - 1000 mcg) of Liquid Iodine drops. Some with dermatitis herpetiformis, Iodine exacerbates the rash.  I started at 1 drop (50 mcg) and worked up to 12 drops, but I don't have dermatitis herpetiformis.

That's great news, you can do this.  Let us know how things go and don't hesitate to ask if you have any more questions. Cristiana 😊

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and I found myself giggling with happiness as I read how your body reached such spring! And I hope that your current journey is also successful!! Definitely starting the food diary! So many amazing advices. And it’s very scary. It really hits all our soft spots as well as our confidence system. Most doctors I went thought I was underage despite being in my late 20s. Right now I look like am I twelve, but is also this body that’s taking so much, so I might as well love it too! Going to make the necessary changes and stay in this path. Thank you again! 🫶
