Peanut/nut Free And Gf - Impossible

My daugher has a life threaten allergy to peanuts and tree nuts and wants to try gluten-free (having some digestive issues) and we can't really. She's a kid and wants snacks, cereal, breads, cookies, crackers.

I've been making a ton of calls over the past few days and I'm at the point where its really getting hard. All Gluten free pantry and Bob's Red Mill flour does have the chance of having nuts in them via cross comtamination. So they are all out. Most every gluten-free sort of snack/flour is out. I heard E-nerg cookies are peanut and nut free but haven't checked yet.

But does anyone else have these problems?? I'm posting this to all the lists I'm on so if you read it a few times sorry but I want to make sure everyone knows this and hopefully find some new sources.

Susan

I'd think it'd be time to get a grain mill and mill your own flours from whole items you can wash. (For instance, mill your own rice, beans, millet, amaranth, quinoa, and tapioca. All of those are whole food items that could only be surface contaminated at worst, and can be surface washed if needed before use.)

Also, check out some of Enjoy-Life's foods; I believe they have allergen free items - including nut/legume free.

We like the Enjoy Life cookies. The cookies are small but I like to get the snack packs to keep in my bag and the car. I haven't gotten to try their other products yet but they're free of the 8 top allergens.

You might also want to check out Namaste mixes at www.namastefoods.com. On their homepage they list the following items, "contain no wheat, gluten, corn, soy, potato, dairy or nuts."

We have similar food issues but my dd is allergic to egg, soy, dairy, etc. and tree nuts as well. I've found that doubling recipes has been a lifesaver. I try to freeze things seperatly so I can grab one or two cupcakes and I'm out the door!!

Hope you can find some goodies. :)

The Enjoy Life Web site has a great selection and worth the cost of shipping if you cannot find the products locally. I, personally, love their stuff...mainly because it tastes good and is perfectly safe to eat.

However, I do NOT care for their chewy snack bars but that is personal choice.

I concur--Enjoylife and Namaste (great baking mixes)... and free of what you mentioned...

I’m having this type of MRI this afternoon,  What specifically do you want to know?  From what I’ve read, not all facilities use the same drink prep.

Hi I've been told I need a MRI on my bowels , I was booked for a colonoscopy, but because of my sever back issues and trapped nerve it can't be done , the nurse told me I will have to have a manitol drink a hour before the scan , I'm just a bit worried has I have issues with sweeteners like even a little,  I get a weird throat and ears and I've read it is a similar substance , not sure if anyone has had one of these scans or could give me some advise on the drink prep thanks in advance 😄

Hi all ! Can a celiac attack be so intense that it causes your entire body to work in reverse? Meaning really bad pain,  neuropathy and muscle,  jaw pain,  the stomach issues , Horrible anxiety and confusion??  I had a Tums and you would think I ate poison. My jaw and stomach did not like it . Not the norm for me. Things that are simple are just out of control. Anyone ever have this happen??  I'm trying to figure out what I ate or did to bring on a celiac like attack. I had an idea before but yesterday I didn't have any gluten unless it was in a medication ?! Any positive suggestions ??  Thank you

The following two lists are very helpful for anyone who is gluten sensitive and needs to avoid gluten when shopping. It's very important to learn to read labels and understand sources of hidden gluten, and to know some general information about product labelling--for example in the USA if wheat is a possible allergen it must be declared on a product's ingredient label like this: Allergens: Wheat.
