Non-Celiac Medical Question

Since this is such a wonderful forum for celiac advice, I'm wondering if anyone here can help me with this problem or point me to a good resource.

My husband has been very thirsty and feeling hot all the time for about the last year. This morning he got the results of blood work and he is positive for diabetes with blood sugar through the roof. It was a shock to both of us because he doesn't fall into any of the risk categories for diabetes, and just two years ago all of his blood work was normal.

The only difference is that for the last year he has been taking Lexapro for PTSD. I just looked up Lexapro, and diabetes is listed as a potential side effect. Who knew??!! He doesn't receive the side effects paper with his prescription, and it isn't listed as one of the common or uncommon side effects when we first investigated this medication. It's listed as an "after marketing finding", and they sure didn't make that widely known.

So I was wondering if anyone else has had an experience like this? Do you know of any resources to find out more information? Do you know if coming off the drug could reverse the diabetes, or if this will now become a life-long issue?

He should talk to his doctor ASAP. It is possible the diabetes may reverse but I don't know for sure. Do not stop the Lexapro suddenly unless the doctor gives the okay. He should also report what has happened to him here:

I have PTSD and the doctor prescribes Alprazolam which is an antianxiety med. I was concerned about addiction but my doc figures I will likely be on it for life and I only take a minimal dose when needed. I found that a fraction of what was originally prescribed works. If I take the full dose prescribed it makes me sleepy and the doctor agreed with me about decreasing the dosage to the level that works for me. I have no side effects at all from it. I don't know if the same drug might work for your DH. It would be something to discuss with his doctor.

I wanted my results to be sent to my pcp but nothing was sent.I have email copies.I did one zoom call with np with team member from celiac specialist in Nov 2025 and she asked me why I wanted to know why I wanted the celiac diagnosis so bad, I sad I don't, its my life and I need revalidaion because its affecting me.KB stated well it shows you are.I asked then why am I going through all this.I was labeled unruly. Its been a celiac circus and medical has caused anxiety and depression no fault to my own other than being born with bad genetics. How is it legal for medical professionals to gaslight patients that are with an ailment coming for help to be downplayed? KB put in my records that she personally spent 120min with me and I think the zoom call was discussing celiac 80 min ONE ZOOM call.SHE is responsible for not explaining to my pcp about celiac disease am I right?

Its alarming these places are popping up in airports as well.I just saw on the news that the airport ( can't remember which  one)was going to have a fabulous smelling bakery. Not for sensitive celiacs, this can alter their health during their travel which isn't safe. More awareness really NEEDS to be promoted, so much more than just a food consumption!FYI I did write to Stanislaus to let them know my thoughts on the medical field not knowing much about celiac and how it affects one.I also did message my gi the 3 specialist names that was given on previous post on questions on celiac. I pray its not on deaf door.

      I used to be able to get the Rivera yougut i havent been able to get it lately. I like getting it did say it did say gluten free. I just looking for a good yogurt that gluten free that i can add some fruit and nuts to any suggestion would be helpful  thanks
