My 1 1/2 year old daughter has been diagnosed since Aug 1st. She has done remarkably well, gaining a pound every 2 weeks. This weekend she started having liquid diarrhea. She has had it for 3 days now. Her appetite has decreased. Does this sound like symptoms after a exposure to gluten? We haven't given her anything new except a vanilla flavored soy milk. It is gluten free, they say:(

Also does anybody have a product they really like for severe diaper rash? Her poor bottom is really red from all the poop. Thanks...Alicia

Maybe she is allergic to soy. It is a common allergen.

It does sound like a gluten exposure, but don't torture yourself because diarrhea can be caused by things other than celiac disease. I find now if I get the slightest big gassy, I'm thinking immediately, "oh, that must be celiac disease, I must have eaten something with gluten by mistake", then review what I have had and know I have not eaten anything wrong! Then I remember I had baked beans for lunch :D

As for your DD's diaper rash, I would suggest Penaten cream, it is an excellent barrier. I have no idea if it is gluten-free or not, but it is wonderful stuff, we use it in the NICU. Plain old Vaseline is also pretty good on the bum, and works well if you mix it in with some Desitin. I saw some Burt's Bees (that right??) diaper cream at the health food store today, I hear a lot of their products are gluten-free. Personally, I would go with the Penaten!

Absolutely my point with Kerrigan, the owner. She stood to secure many years of faithful patronage by simply inviting us in for a pastry or lunch. Or by simply producing another $50 e-card based on trust. We would have been highly satisfied. We are limited to a few restaurants in the area, and that would have been one. It was very disappointing, esp to my wife, to realize we can't patronize the place anymore.

You would think any business would see the wisdom of honoring a $50 gift certificate on the basis of customer satisfaction alone, apart from any questions about software glitches.

So there was no physical, plastic card involved, correct?

When my wife attempted to open the online card in the store with a cashier, it would not work. We then showed the owner the link to the card, the online receipt that I got upon purchase, and even my bank statement confirming the purchase. That did not satisfy her, since she said she needed the link to open to reveal the gift ID num. They even admitted they had a systems problem around that time.
