  1. MrMark, I have only been diagnosed with Celiac for close to two years. I am in my second marriage and have four boys. I love to bake and still do. I bake gluten foods for the rest of the family and gluten free foods, desserts and such for me and when I make a lot so I can freeze some the rest of the family shares in that as well. I feel left out when...
  2. Where do you find kinnikinnicks? I have seen vans and another not sure of the name right off. I am from western NY state.
  3. Have tried several gluten free breads and so far gluten free pantry seem to be the best. In testure and taste and actually looking like regular bread. I was not much of a bread eater before, and not I still don't eat that much, I have made the bread in a machine and when it is cooled I slice it then place in freezer bags. I leave out a few slices. Yes...
  4. Unless you have a problem with an ingredient in the quacker oat rice cakes, you should be ok. Rice cakes are what you would want. Read the ingredients and check labels on everything.

    ARCHIVED Snow

I am in western NY and we are starting to get snow and over night about 3 to 6 inches, tomorrow during the day another 6 to 12 inches and possibly over night tomorrow night another 3 to 6. We are getting a Nor"easter. Lucky us. Last time this happened and we were ready for it we got nothiing. Not so ready so probably will get dumped upon. I like snow...
  6. I made chocolate chip cookies for my boys and peanut butter cookies for me. The boys asked for sugar cookies. I told each of them to find me a gluten free sugar cookie. One did and this is what it was. Didn't take time at all to make, bake, cool and frost. They taste great, plain or frosted. 1 cup rice flour 1/2 cup tapioca flour 1 cup cornstarch...
  7. A few weeks ago I felt fine. Went over to my mother's to help her with something and as soon as I walked in the door I asked wht the smell was. She was cooking a roast with a ton of seasonings. She opened the oven door I immediately started feeling sick. She thought it was me cause I have never reacted that way. I went home and just being outside breathing...
  8. I buy it at Wegmans and it is about $10, but you don't use much. I have a small bag and it has lasted over a year. I keep it in an air tight container.
  9. I have gotten gluten stuff. I was always taught to be polite. I have instilled that into my kids and neices and nephews. Even if you got two of the same thing. Take it and say Thank you. But being gluten free is a hard thing. Not every one knows or remembers for that matter. I am the only one in my house gluten free. SO if it is something I can not...
  10. Hi, when I saw that recipe on the internet or tv can't remember which, I have only made those since. I have done it with only one egg. Does two eggs make a difference? Also I use only Jif peanut butter. I grew up on it and seem to only like that.
  11. Thank you for your ideas. I have never made quiche before but there is always a first time. If it turns out well I may make it for Christmas for the family. Kids are always up for food. Thanks again!
  12. We are having a work brunch Christmas get together on a Thursday. Bring a gift, get a gift sort of thing and so everything listed I can not eat with the exception of the fruit. I want to make something quick and easy to make and take the morning of so I can eat things other than fruit. I am up at 7, to work by 8:30 and our brunch is at 10:00. Any ideas...
  13. I have found that Bob Red Mill bread and other products have never come out for me and I bake quite a bit. So not sure maybe like someone said aboutt he altitude or weather.
  14. It sounds like with the cows milk she is having the reactions. Maybe you need to try rice milk or soy milk. You could always ask the pediatrician. After being diagnosed with celiac and going gluten free to help recover most people have to go off dairy. It was about a year after I went gluten free that I had problems with dairy and I went off it for about...
  15. My oldest son went many years physical after physical and was never diagnosed until he was almost 17. He ate like a typical teenager. Then he got sick. He was vominting everyday for about a month and we thought he had some abdonimal thing. THe doctors said it was viral and nothing could be done. After the month, my and my son was vominting he said it...
  16. I use to make stuffed peppers for CHristmas Eve and Lasagna for Christmas day. I am from a Italian background. With prices of everything we now have pizza for Christmas eve, just easier with working and everything else and I still make Lasagna for christmas dinner. If it is at my house then I have everyone bring something and I make them a dish and myself...
  17. Hi Donna, I do medical transcription and letter dictation but as part of my job. I work in a clinic with a couple of doctors and counselors. I do dictation for both. I like the dictation part, but with phones, clients and everything else in an office it is hard to concentrate on doing that job and not have distractions. I have thought about doing this...
  18. I use Tinkyada all the time and cook it like I am cooking regular pasta and keep stiring and checking it. Also when rinsing it use cold water, that takes the sliminess off. I am from an Italian background and love pasta. If it were up to me I could eat pasta everyday. So many different things to make and it all is so good. Makes me think I am making...
  19. I have always made dinner at my home every year since moving out on my own. Married with kids. Diagnosed just about two years ago and this would be the second year that the turkey was made without stuffing which the family would rather have, stuffing made on stove, made baked beans, corn, mashed potatoes, all of which except for stuffing is gluten-free....
  20. I was on Tompamax once for migraine control and it made me feel like a zombie. I have been on several medications for migraine control and now just started Lyrica. But for the peripherial neuropathy I am on Nuerontin. That seems to help. Also the Lyrica is made for PN and pain from shingles, but a lot of medications are used for pain control for different...
  21. Someone responded a few weeks ago about cocoa pebbles has changed the recipe and is no longer safe. As is Trix. SOmething about the POST cereals were changing the recipe on how items were made. ALways check ingredients before buying.
  22. One of our natural food stores did a giveaway that a friend of mine won a bag full of food. The only thing that was gluten free was the Erewhon brown rice cereal with mixed berries that she brought in and gave to me. I just opened it and eating it now for breakfast. I don't care much for the berries part of it. I will have to try the others that are plain...
  23. Where I live in NY State, we have Wegmans and Sauders where you can get tapico starch. We also have a GNC General nutrition Center, not sure what they have as I don't shop there and also a MOther Nature's store, same there, I dont shop there to know what they have. Good luck. Not sure if you can substitute something else for that or not. Sorry
  24. Because my B12 was so low the doctor put me on a shot that I take every 4 weeks. May sting a little to do it but easier to remember than a pill everyday. As I am on many of those that it looks like I own a pharmacy.
  25. I went through weeks of sharp burning stabbing pain and was told it was a peptic ulcer. They gave me meds for that I told them the meds were not working. So I had the ultrasound done and it showed nothing, no gall stones. Next test after many blood tests was the HIDA scan. That showed that my gall bladder was working 12.8%. I asked "out of 100%" and...
