ARCHIVED Anyone Know Of False Eyelashes That Are Safe?
NoGluGirl posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I wear contacts. I know adhesives from false lashes can contain gluten. I was wondering if anyone knows of a kind that is widely available that is safe for Celiacs. Mascara (even waterproof) would be nice. I just think using false lashes would be safer. If you get that stuff in your eye, you are going to hurt! Thanks. Sincerely... -
Dear 123glutenfree, I had negative blood tests several years ago. I found out recently from a holistic physician that negative blood work and biopsies can be misleading. She says I am Celiac. I have had digestive problems since birth. They got more severe as I got older. My doctor said she has had a handful of patients who were...

Dear CarlaB, That is what I want too! Oh God I miss those things! Someone said they saw that MacDonald's fries are gluten free. I know that cannot be right. God I wish they were! You what we could do, Carla? We could get Todd Wilbur's books. He has written these great books called "Top Secret Recipes." We could recreate our favorite...

Dear GeoffCJ, Congratulations! It is great you did so well despite your suffering! You should be proud! That is so awesome! What a bummer about that huge rock! Next year, maybe you will win! Sincerely, NoGluGirl -
ARCHIVED Positive Blood Test, Negative Biopsy
NoGluGirl replied to jlynn's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear jlynn, I had negative blood tests several years ago, and a negative biopsy. However, the doctor I am with now diagnosed me as Celiac. I began recovering in a few days of being on the gluten free diet. I had a team of doctors working on me before, and I do not even think they knew what villi was or what to look for. You do not get... -
ARCHIVED What Did I Eat Wrong?
NoGluGirl replied to momof4insc's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear momof4insc, It could have been the dairy, or your medicine. Some people have reported Tostitos making them sick. Cross contamination can be an issue, some members have said. I ate some and now I hurt, but I had my gallbladder out, so anything fried is bad. I pigged out, and now all that fat is hurting me. As long as I eat a little... -
ARCHIVED New Diagnosis, Overwhelmed
NoGluGirl replied to Melissa Courtney's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear Melissa, I would recommend you stay in a Homestead Inn suite or other place that has a kitchen where you can make your own meals. Then you will not have to worry about cross contamination. There is a wide variety of items in the regular supermarket, and at Wal-Mart (which is found all over the world now). I was surprised about all that... -
Dear BornToRide, I had my gallbladder removed several years ago when I was 20. I had an ultrasound, HIDA scan, and all that. Nothing showed at tall. I knew it still had to be the trouble though. My intuition is always right. I learned the hard way not to ignore it. My doc relied to heavily on the tests. He figured...

Dear JerryK, ROFLMAO! I see what you mean. Guys do bathroom jokes, but that is the only way they talk about that stuff most of the time. You gave me an idea: a sample conversation between two guys at the bowling alley about Gluten Intolerance and Celiac: Bob: *fart* Joe: Dude! What're you, Celiac or something? Bob: What? Joe...

ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
NoGluGirl replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Dear CarlaB, I agree that alcoholics have overgrowths of Candida. My grandfather and great-grandfather both suffered with this. My best friend's grandfather was also an alcoholic. Not only that, he was a schizophrenic. There are many links to this and Candida. It is so sad to hear about your hubby's uncle. Leukemia... -
ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
NoGluGirl replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Dear Claire, We were talking about the poisoned dog food on another thread. Go to the OMG....No one actually eats this stuff right? Thread. Jerry K started it. We were discussing the horrors of gluten free breads! You will find it in the Coping With section. I believed it was arsenic poisoning from the beginning. I think it is smart... -
Dear CarlaB, Thanks for the bread info. I have been eating the Ener-G rice bread. The toaster is not doable unless my parents buy it. Right now, thanks to be defrauded, I have a -$115.70 in my account. It is so depressing. I could use the oven, even though it will take longer. My parents probably will not buy even a cheap toaster, considering...

ARCHIVED Have You Guys Heard About The Pet Food?
NoGluGirl replied to JerryK's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear Viola 1, The thing is Shirley, Dart does not respond to medication. He was on Phenobarbitol for quite some time. It did nothing, and in fact, seemed to make it worse. He does feel them coming on. I suspect poisoning of some sort. Something else that is interesting, epilepsy does not run in his family. No other puppies from that... -
Dear JerryK, They certainly are a real band! You would never expect anyone to choose a name like that for their group, but they did! There are some crazy names for bands out there! I learned about them from Beavis and Butthead. As you know, I am so cultured and worldly! Some other funny band names include: Insane Clown Posse, Toad...

ARCHIVED Have You Guys Heard About The Pet Food?
NoGluGirl replied to JerryK's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear JerryK, I heard it for sure! I was scared to death! We have a 3 year old Yorkie that has seizures. I wonder if he has food allergies. However, my parents do not think gluten can cause that. If it can cause it in people, why couldn't it be caused in a dog? We took him off of the Frontline Plus Flea and Tick protection because we found... -
Dear BigRog, I get that too! I was wondering about that! Sometimes, I smell bananas. It is so strange. There are other things I smell a lot as well, though. I have no idea what is causing this. I have been glutened at least once a week lately. I am paranoid careful, but my parents are not. I have had difficulty with this for a long...

Dear sansglutengrl, I really miss the food from our favorite Chinese takeout restaurant. Everytime Dad brings it home, I just want to cry. Why can't my parents at least have the decency to not eat things they know for sure are your favorites? And get this! My mother has the nerve to cook things I cannot eat, then expect...

Dear JerryK, We are so happy for you! Your younger bro probably was afraid to say anything until you mentioned it. This disease is a problem. Genetically, if one sibling has it, you have a 40 percent higher risk of Celiac. I know my Mom and brother have it, and I am not so sure my father does not have it either. Dear Violet, ...

ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
NoGluGirl replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Dear rinne, Thank you for the compliments! As far as the reward from the lawsuit with Gluten, Inc. goes, our president will decide how to use it. Some of it, of course will probably need to go to care for the protective geese. The purple glittery bats also have special needs. Meanwhile, I must take on another lawsuit... -
ARCHIVED Trident Gum
NoGluGirl replied to blueeyedmanda's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Dear jerseyangel, Thanks for the link. I have put it in my favorites. Right now, I am chewing Extra Sugar Free Bubble Gum. My trouble is, my teeth are really crooked, and I chew it to help calm my stomach. Many other kinds of gum I tried stuck to my teeth. This one is the only brand that has not. Dear Rachel, ... -
Dear jerseyangel, The Ener-G rice bread is the one I get when I can afford it. Our little health food store is the only one who carries it. I wish I had a toaster. I miss toasted bread. Sandwiches taste better toasted to me. I would love a big stacked club sandwich! This bread really just tastes like rice. That is definitely better...

Dear Cuervo, Tamari can be found at healthfood stores. It is very good. It is more fermented and made a little differently than regular soy sauce. There are two soy sauces readily available you can get just about anywhere. LaChoy is found all over the place, and Wal-Mart has one that is safe for us in the Great Value Brand. Many people...

ARCHIVED Weight Gain On Gluten Free Diet
NoGluGirl replied to sluct's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Dear sluct, I had my gallbladder out at the same age! It turns out the Celiac is probably what made my gallbladder go bad in the first place. Who would have thought? I have had difficulty losing weight as well. I have had Thyroid Disease though. However, going gluten free and low-fat can be difficult. Many of the low-fat foods we used... -
ARCHIVED Weight Gain On Gluten Free Diet
NoGluGirl replied to sluct's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Dear CMCM, I had my gallbladder out at the same age! Just about 4 years ago, it was removed. I am going to commemorate it with some gluten free cookies on July 28th. Gluten intolerance or Celiac can cause your gallbladder to go bad. No one could believe that mine went bad at that age as well. At my ten day post-op check-up, I found out... -
Dear chick2ba, I was so glad to see this! I actually started to cry some when I read this. It sounded exactly like the misery I went through. Like you guys, it only took me a couple of paragraphs to diagnose this woman. If only more doctors had brains like the one writing this book. However, from my experience, the answer to how doctors...
