ARCHIVED Meats And Cheese
NoGluGirl replied to Chancer7's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Dear HawkFire, Thank you for the compliments. I want to make this easier for others. Six months ago, I thought I was going crazy. I was totally overwhelmed. The whole day was call manufacturers, stay on hold for eternity, obsessively clean counters, dishes, and table, cook until you drop. Saving people from that is important to me... -
ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
NoGluGirl replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Dear Rachel and Donna, I am so glad the purple glittery bats are not a problem with hair! Mine tends to eat things as it is! Just yesturday, my father was sweeping around the upstairs, and he had to stop several times to remove my hair. It had wrapped around the brush! My brother always laughs and says my hair is an experiment... -
Dear tabdegner, Good luck with the gluten-free diet! I think it could help. The gallbladder issue is a major problem. There are many possibilities. However, the good thing is, this does not do you any harm. I would be more than happy to send you a list of safe foods. You will be surprised by what we can have, I think. Gallbladder...

Dear SocietyInDenial, Yep, that low body temp thing is strange. I would feel like I was going to spontaneously combust, but my temp was so low! It is so weird. I sweat excessively, too. That makes it even more difficult to figure out. Even when my Thyroid was overactive, my body temp was low. I have TMJ as well...

Dear RiceGuy, People are so inconsiderate. I hope that some miracle will happen and I can get my own place soon. Then I won't have to worry about it. My place will have no gluten in it! If people do not like it, too bad! Dear GFMemphis, Thanks you for the compliments! I just want to make this as easy as...

ARCHIVED Meats And Cheese
NoGluGirl replied to Chancer7's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Dear Chancer7, I have a list that should really help. This is overwhelming. I went through this with myself six months ago. You spend most of your day cooking and cleaning obsessively. The rest you are on the phone with reps from companies trying to find out what is safe. I decided to save you the trouble! 1. There are... -
ARCHIVED South Beach Bars
NoGluGirl replied to WGibs's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Dear WGibs, If I had to choose, I would say cross-contamination is an issue. I won't even touch food that has not been made on dedicated lines in a gluten-free facility. I cannot chance it. My reaction is too violent. I am definitely not willing to try anything I am not sure of. Sincerely, ... -
Dear SocietyInDenial, Those temps sound the same as mine! Even when I was hot flashing, I usually only got up to 98.0 degrees. Sometimes I am cold for no reason. I am always walking around in sweaters and sweatshirts. My parents think I am crazy. They always tease me about it. This is typical with Thyroid Disease, though. ...

Dear Mtndog, You are so welcome for the info! It is scary, isn't it? I have been having pain under my ribcage again, and I am concerned this could be my trouble as well. The symptoms are pretty much the same as gallbladder disease. It has been difficult to find low-fat gluten-free food. I think that is the trouble. Too much fat is problematic...

Dear RiceGuy, I like Monty Python! It is so crazy! You have to love it! In this house, I am the gluten police. No one cares if they make me sick. You know how that is. It is not their intestines being destroyed. Sincerely, NoGluGirl

ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
NoGluGirl replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Dear Lisa, I had a boss like that at Taco Bell when I worked there as a teenager! It is scary. They do not want to take the time to train you, then get angry with you when you need help. I did a ton of work like you did, for very little pay. I only made $5.50 and hour. That was so underpaid! For all you do, that is not enough! I had... -
ARCHIVED Shampoo, Lotions, Dryer Sheets?
NoGluGirl replied to kali-mist's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Dear Monica, I received my list directly from Heinz, who manufactures them. They are on the list they gave me. I had called on Lea & Perrins products, which they also make. All of Lea & Perrins products are gluten-free! Heinz had the list specifically sent to me. You could be reacting to the soy or the corn. I eat them, and so... -
ARCHIVED Bath Products
NoGluGirl replied to Cuervo's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Dear Cuervo, Even when you do not have a skin reaction, using gluten-free products is smart. You see, certain things like lotion you can accidentally ingest. That is why it is so important to have gluten-free cosmetics, shampoos, lotions, etc. Although gluten particles are too large to go through the pores of your skin, having it on your... -
ARCHIVED Bath Products
NoGluGirl replied to Cuervo's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Dear Cuervo, Stick with Dove and Suave. They clearly label any gluten containing ingredients. This makes it much simpler. Body wash is definitely something you need to be careful with. It goes all over you. You do not want a full body rash! I have eczema, so I am careful! Dear simplicity66, Here is a... -
ARCHIVED Peanut Butter!
NoGluGirl replied to simplicity66's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Dear simplicity66, I buy Jif. They all are gluten-free. Even their Smooth Sensations! Many people do not know this, but they are made by Smuckers. I really miss the Chocolate Silk! They do not make it anymore. They do have some junk. If that is the unhealthiest thing you eat though, it should not hurt you! I also, have never... -

NoGluGirl replied to kali-mist's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Dear Kali Mist, I have a great beginner's list for you. I have been working on this a while. When I first went gluten-free six months ago, I spent half of my day on the phone calling manufacturers, and the rest cooking and obsessively cleaning. It become thoroughly exhausting. So, I decided to save you the effort and worry. Here... -
Dear Emi 220, Tell your parents to ditch Dr. Dipstick. It is for their own good. This disease is serious. Just because the disease is latent and and not showing symptoms does not mean it is not causing damage. These geniuses we call doctors often have a God complex. They need to get with it. If they were the ones at risk, their...

NoGluGirl replied to CMCM's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear CMCM, Thanks for posting this! I put it in a Word Doc. This info is important! I may have other food issues. I hope not, but until I do a rotation diet, I won't know anything. Sincerely, NoGluGirl -
Dear Mtndog, Yeah, this poor woman. I felt so sad for her. She, like many of us, are left dealing with permanent mistakes doctors made. My surgeon did not tell me to watch my fat intake, but I was talking to someone else in the waiting room that said she had diarrhea the first six months after her operation. I came across this while...

ARCHIVED New Diagnosis, Overwhelmed
NoGluGirl replied to Melissa Courtney's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear Michelle and Shirley, Thanks for the info. In case I ever get to travel, that helps a lot! It is amazing how things can change from one place to another. I personally feel there should be an international standard for this. That would simplify things a lot. Sincerely, ... -
Dear GFMemphis, I knew that was not right. I know some others on here got ill from eating them. I was so bummed. The good news is, that guy just came out with another book that has their recipe in them! I could get it, and tweak it to be gluten free! As soon as I am able, I will post the gluten free recipe for them on here...

NoGluGirl replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Dear Donna, I think that Jamaican tie-dyed shirt would be perfect! That reminds me of that In Living Color sketch, "Hey Mon!" I love tie-dye. My mother has actually developed an irrational fear of it. Here is an interesting fact: tie-dye was invented in China. I always knew they were my people! Dear Rachel, ... -
Dear Mtndog, I always knew those Brazilian guys seemed more attractive than others! Now I know why! Men who bake are very attractive! You don't see Todd English looking wimpy! Real men bake bread! Sincerely, NoGluGirl

Dear pnltbox27, I cannot risk even a microscopic amount. I have a violent reaction. I get severely nauseated, get diarrhea, break out in a sweat, start shaking, sometimes my hands go numb, and dry heaves start if I do not get a promethazine down fast enough. They are so severe, that it feels like my insides are emploding. My parents...

ARCHIVED New Diagnosis, Overwhelmed
NoGluGirl replied to Melissa Courtney's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear Michelle, You are right. The only ones that are safe are made in the U.S. Outside of the U.S., maltodextrin can be something other than corn. I know in Canada, that it contains wheat a lot of the time. Reading labels is always your best bet. Dear Melissa, You are very welcome! As the others said, reading...
