Dear Everyone, Some of you may want to do a rotation diet. The reason is due to the fact I found out you can develop allergies to foods you eat too much of. You should not eat the same food but once every four days or so. My doc is putting me on one. She feels gluten is not my only trouble, and told me to stay away from dairy as well, particularly...

ARCHIVED My Mom Went To Italy
NoGluGirl replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Dear Nini, Celiac disease is extremely common in Italy, actually. Several years ago, I did research on it. Sources said it was most prevalent among the Italians. 1 in every 150 people to be exact at the time had it. More current figures report that those of Anglo-Celtic descent are more likely to have it. Maybe you could do a search on it... -
ARCHIVED Tender Abdominal Area After Being Glutened?
NoGluGirl replied to IrishKelly's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear IrishKelly, Yep I get that way. I get really bloated, too. The pain in my colon is usually really bad. It seems to be gas. I also get unbearable acid reflux if I have been glutened. Sincerely, NoGluGirl -
Dear miles2go, I thought the Z-Pak had gluten. According to one of the lists I read, it was not allowed. Maybe it was outdated? It is wonderful if it is safe. It is gentler on your system than most of them. Sincerely, NoGluGirl Dear...

NoGluGirl replied to MauriceGreene's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear Sweetfudge, According to Amanda's Mommy's Blog, Durkee's liquid extracts and food colorings are all gluten -free. Her blog has helped me a lot. I love to bake, so it is a must to know about these things! I have only been gluten -free for about three months. Poor Maurice, I can relate to his situation. Calling manufacturers... -
ARCHIVED Megan's Gagging Isn't Any Better
NoGluGirl replied to TCA's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Dear TCA, It is such wonderful news that Meg is doing so well! LOL! I can't believe she swallowed her hairbow! Don't blame yourself. No matter how much you watch them, they will manage to swallow things that are not supposed to be swallowed. That is a baby. Most people have a Gerber baby, I have a Goober baby. He is a 3 year old Yorkshire... -
Dear Jules, I am gluten intolerant, and have a terrible time getting over any kind of stomach bug. I had one where you have severe diarrhea a couple of weeks ago and still feel like I have not gotten rid of it. I even had to postpone my oral surgery because of it. I take L. Acidophillus every day, but am getting some more of my flu prevention...

ARCHIVED Headache, Nausea, Belching, Dreaming About Being Sick...
NoGluGirl replied to JenKuz's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear JenKuz, Wow, your poor Mom! A mucuous filled cyst the size of a turkey leg in her intestine? Ouch! A stone in your bile duct would be best detected using the HIDA scan, where they inject you with a hormone that makes your gallbladder secrete bile. My dad had a coworker whose son was experiencing severe stomach problems and was only... -
ARCHIVED Headache, Nausea, Belching, Dreaming About Being Sick...
NoGluGirl replied to JenKuz's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear JenKuz, If you have ever had gas to the point you feel like you are having a heart attack, and feel like you are going to be sick all the time (especially after eating high fat foods or anything spicy) the gallbladder is very likely. That pain on your right side below your rib cage definately indicates it. And guess what? That poor... -
ARCHIVED Headache, Nausea, Belching, Dreaming About Being Sick...
NoGluGirl replied to JenKuz's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear JenKuz, Man, I know how you feel. The promethazine is the only thing that helped me with the nausea, but it makes me so sleepy! You cannot take it and go to work. Doctors usually have a God complex. Don't let some idiot in a lab coat tell you what to do with your body. They do not have any idea what you feel like. When I was 18 years... -
ARCHIVED Have Candida, Celiac And Lactose Intolerance Help With Food Ideas Please!
NoGluGirl replied to curlysue's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear curlysue, I know exactly where you are coming from! I may have Candida and have had severe stomach trouble too! It has improved since going gluten free, but lately I have been feeling rough again. I caught a stomach bug last week, and I think it has messed up my body again. Finding yeast- free gluten- free food is tough. Not many... -
ARCHIVED Forgot About The Tupperware
NoGluGirl replied to Gamecreature's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear Judy, I have put mine through the dishwasher and have not gotten ill. I figure if they are cleaned thoroughly enough, it should be fine. It never hurts to be careful, though. Using ziplocs are more reasonable. Perhaps designating one set only just for your food is a good idea. So far, I have done alright, though. Even so, I make... -
ARCHIVED Eating Gluten Free On A Small Budget
NoGluGirl replied to SarahTorg's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear Sarah, I can hardly afford any of the gluten-free specialty items. I mostly buy stuff at the regular store, sticking to fruit, veggies, poultry and meat. I do treat myself to the allowed candies. It is surprising how much you can eat at the regular store. I cannot afford to go organic, though I would if I could. Go to Amanda... -
ARCHIVED Headache, Nausea, Belching, Dreaming About Being Sick...
NoGluGirl replied to JenKuz's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear JenKuz, I thought I was the only one that had that! I have done much better since going gluten-free. If you want to be safe, just stick with meat, fresh fruit, veggies, for a while. That really helped me. It is quite bland, but it does help. Also, you may want to see if you have a problem with an overgrowth of yeast. It is like gluten... -

ARCHIVED I Got The Fed Ex Job...i'm So Nervouse About My Tummy Now!
NoGluGirl replied to IrishKelly's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear IrishKelly, Are you sure we are not in the same body? I was supposed to have my wisdom teeth and two others out this morning, but seem to have caught the stomach bug my mother had last week. I thought mine was nerves, but then thought maybe I was glutened. The thing is, me and my family have been extremely careful, so the glutening... -
Dear AutumnE, As far as I know, most Allergists only handle allergies. They can test for food allergies, but skin tests only check for Immunoglubulin E. Just because someone does not have a skin reaction, does not mean that they are not allergic or sensitive to something. Insurance is a pain in the tuchas about this. The good doctors like...

ARCHIVED Antone Know What The Ige Is?
NoGluGirl replied to Nikki2003's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Dear Nikki2003, The IgE is the Immunoglobulin E antibody. It high levels of it indicate skin allergies. The bad news is, they are not that accurate in diagnosing food allergies. Despite the fact I am gluten intolerant, it did not show up in my skin tests. I too, have asthma and eczema. I had a lot of symptoms like your daughter when I was... -
ARCHIVED Megan's Gagging Isn't Any Better
NoGluGirl replied to TCA's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Dear TCA, It is such wonderful news to hear your daughter is improving! That allergy drainage is troublesome. My dad has sinus problems that can be quite severe. It would not be surpising if gluten was causing her so much difficulty. I had my gallbladder out, but even after that, had spells of dry heaves that would hurt my entire body. The nausea... -
ARCHIVED How Can I Help My Husband Understand?
NoGluGirl replied to hannahsue01's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear hannahsue01, I am stuck living with my parents at 23 and have experienced the same miseries. The nausea is so bad, you wish someone would just kill you. Going gluten-free has made a difference for me. In a few days, my stomach was not so bloated, and in a week, my reflux reduced. I too know every single physical misery you and... -
Dear Raquel, I can relate. I just found out I have gluten intolerance about two months ago. The good news is, more manufacturers are willing to tell you about their gluten free products than you would expect. Del Monte just sent me a list. And, Kraft has one as well. According to what I understand, Miracle Whip is gluten free. It is...

ARCHIVED Baby Has Reflux, Need Some Help!
NoGluGirl replied to taweavmo3's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Dear Beth, I will remember this list for when I adopt! He he! Here is a story everyone will enjoy. A woman had just had her first baby. She spit up a lot. She had just seen the exorcist, and thought her baby was posessed! So, she took the child to the emergency room. Once she explained it to their preist, he laughed so hard he had to... -
ARCHIVED Do You Have Stomach Pain Because Of Gluten?
NoGluGirl replied to ebrbetty's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear wolfie, My name is Kim too, LOL! Is it just me, or are there way too many people with our name! I also was told I had IBS and acid reflux. The thing is, I had a bad gallbladder and such severe reflux that I had to practically sleep sitting straight up. Now the reflux has improved dramatically. The nausea is not as bad either. I was... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Sensitivity Vs. Celiac Disease
NoGluGirl replied to CantEvenEatRice's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear Mayflowers, Now I am confused! I went to the Celiac.org web site, and another web site and it appears that gluten intolerance is the same thing as Celiac disease. I had negative blood tests for antigliadin, and skin testing revealed no reaction. A biopsy done several years ago revealed nothing. I tried digestive enzymes and they... -
ARCHIVED Do You Have Stomach Pain Because Of Gluten?
NoGluGirl replied to ebrbetty's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear ebrbetty, Until I went gluten free about two months ago, I had a lot of stomach pain. I had this poking pain all over the place. It felt like someone doing a naval destroyer all over your stomach, just taking their finger and poking you hard everywhere. I had negative blood tests and biopsies, and tried digestive enzymes. None of them...
