    I must be one of a few people that had no problems after I went totally gluten-free with my diet. My numbers were through the roof at the time of testing and a year later, on the low end of normal.     This subject has been broached before but I'll add this in again.....please bear with me so I can fully explain. You have to ingest gluten into your intestinal tract to produce a reaction and be glutened, unless you have DH and then it occurs also by skin contact with gluten.     I know that different restaurants can be inconsistent with their knowledge but my experience at Carraba's was excellent. Those disclaimers are for legal protection only.....if they were that worried about glutening people on a regular basis, they wouldn't offer a gluten-free menu.     I would bet her problem is dairy. Many celiacs cannot have dairy for awhile until healing occurs because lactose is broken down at the tip of the villi so if there has been damage, you cannot digest dairy just yet. This happened to me but I was able to reintroduce it after about 6 months and now I have no problems with it.

    I'm sorry I don't have any advice to give on this but wanted to say that the odds of finding a doctor in a hospital program that will agree to treat, or even recognize celiac disease without a biopsy is probably pretty low. Check it out by all means but they will pressure you for a biopsy....it's what they do and why so many people go years with undiagnosed...

    Alopecia is the medical term for hair loss and it can be an autoimmune problem. If you have celiac disease, then you would be at higher risk for alopecia.     Barb.....as others have stated, there are a number of other autoimmune issues that will keep a Ttg high. Type 1 diabetes and autoimmune thyroid disease, which I have.     When my adult teeth came in as a child, my 2 front bottom teeth were yellow....no enamel on them. It kills me because I had so many signs of celiac disease then and no one picked up on it. If the teeth are yellow with no enamel on them, as opposed to being a yellowish color, with enamel intact, I am afraid the enamel does not come back. I had both teeth...
