Thanks I guess I am just concerned because it has changed and she was really upset the other day. As for solids we are excited that we did get the go ahead for soilds from her GI doc. I am trying to make my own so that I know exactly what is in it. She has had so many problems I want to know for sure what the cause is. Thanks -

KayJay replied to jaimi alderson's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Jergens is not gluten-free I have been using that the last couple of weeks. My head has been so itchy I wonder if that is why. I couldn't figure it out at all. -
Maddie is 8 months old and still only breastfed. She used to have a dirty diaper once a day sometimes every other day. Now she has gone a week with not BM. The doctor told me to give her a suppository and that worked. Then still no BM 3 days later and we gave her another suppository and it worked. She was screaming that time until we gave it to her and...

KayJay replied to Smunkeemom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
oh that is such good news. What a nice church! You said your daughter was 4? -
I am not sure where to put this but I thought I would try here. We fed the ducks some of my husbands bread the other day. Before we even got home my hands turned bright red and started burning. This has never happened before. Could it be the wheat? I have been gluten-free for 2 years now. But I used to eat bread and handle the stuff all the time and...

Please be very careful reading this book. I read the book and went to a class for it and I think that it should be banned. Now each is to his own but please please please read this website too. Open Original Shared Link This method can cause problems such as dehydration and losing your milk supply. A lot of babies do not thrive on it please be careful... -
ARCHIVED Celiac & Breastfeeding Info
KayJay replied to angielackner's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
We are going through this right now. Maddie was having problems tolerating any foods so the GI doctor told me to just nurse her until she is 8+ months. The reason is because all babies have a leaky gut. That is how they absorb nutrition. Well, most of their guts begin to heal at 3-4 months of age. My baby and maybe yours is healing slowly. So when she... -
ARCHIVED Dont Know What To Do
KayJay replied to minibabe's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I stopped using that brand because it said wheat on the ingredients. I use dove and really like it. -
Have you had the Enjoy life snack bars? They are okay but compared to the box the snack bars are small. And then when you open the package to get to the bar it is even smaller I don't think they are worth the money. Just wanted to let you know they are really small. Same with their cereal. I opened the box to find a smaller package about 1/...

KayJay replied to Fiddle-Faddle's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs

ARCHIVED No Solids Yet
KayJay replied to KayJay's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
^Thanks that makes me feel so much better! Just wanted to add this past week she has only been breastfed and I have cut out her known allergens and she has had the best week ever! She is so happy and looks great! -
If your pain feels like cramps that is normal and common during the first several weeks. But if you are concerned or if they get any worse go to the hospital and get checked out. Congratulations!
-
I had the worst time getting food while in the hospital. I had a c-section too! My doctor wrote on my chart gluten-free and the nurses knew this. But when they brought me breakfast they would put a roll on the plate or bring me cereal. I would say I can't eat this could I just have eggs and fruit it took them 2 hours to bring me a plate of food. ...

ARCHIVED Met W/the Pediatric Gi Yesterday
KayJay replied to celiacsmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hang in there it gets easier. It may be easier for your whole family to go gluten-free so he will eat what everyone else is eating. Just a thought. But I do remember how I felt when I found out I had celiac disease. It was really hard. I was going to mention some of the same stuff everyone else mentioned I love those pizza shells we have some now. hmm... -
ARCHIVED No Solids Yet
KayJay replied to KayJay's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thanks, the reason I ask was her ped. says we need to start solids because of the texture avoidance issues and she says new research says it could help with speech later on but she isn't too concerned or worried about that. After all it is new research. But her GI says that she is still reacting to certain proteins and if we move her to solids too quickly... -
Maddie went back to the GI doctor yesterday and he thinks she may have an allergy to milk or soy instead of just an intolerance now. So now he gave me Neocate to supplement with (only if I have too) and he wants to see her back in 6 weeks and then talk about starting solids. That will put her at 8 months before she can eat solids. I know they don't need...

That is so great! I hope they continue to do so!

ARCHIVED Teething Biscuits
KayJay replied to llmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
oh wow that sounds like Maddie. She couldn't tolerate the rice cereal at all. We waited a month and tried again and she still didn't do well on it so the doctor said she didn't need rice cereal. Her GI said she could try oats next time. He wants to wait a little bit before starting food again though. She isn't tolerating formula very well right now at...
