ARCHIVED Will Anything Else Help?Adelle replied to Adelle's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff Yay!! My doc rox. He gave me antibiotics (some tummy friendly kind I haven't heard of) if those don't work, I'll call and get another, if I NEED nausea meds, he'll let me try to stay home (if I'm supervised and I swore to call 911 if my reaction gets bad blah blah) and not have a hospital stay. Prolly cause he knew I wouldn't go! I also told him how...

ARCHIVED Will Anything Else Help?Adelle replied to Adelle's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff Craaaaap..... I called my health insurance's "nurse line" back, hoping I'd get some better advice. Usually they give pretty good advice. I mentioned the gluten-free diet and she seemed impressed and wrote in my file (separate from my actual health records, it's already in those) to recomend gluten-free stuff. Anyway, she said because of the ear thing I have...

Ok so I started getting sick fri night/ sat am. It got much worse. My ear hurts bad, can't stop coughing, worse and worse. I'm taking a multi-vit, zinc, vit C, I just got some cough syrup (so maybe I can sleep!), menthol chest stuff (which I LOOOVE), and cough drops (all gluten-free ofc!). Anyway, is there anything else you would reccomend? You guys...

ARCHIVED Always Read Labels (twice Or Thrice)Adelle replied to Mtndog's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Trust me I know! My hubby & I went to the beach overnight (for our anniversary) and got glutened from the sausage we brought w us (we brought all our own food)! The sausage was gluten-free last week, I was grocery shopping w my neice (and I was distracted) and so I didn't re-read the package. DOH!!! I'm glad u avoided it! Always read the packages...

I haven't done an elimination diet, but I just wanted to say welcome! And don't worry abt the biopsy. My bloodwork was "borderline positive", I'm still not sure what that means. The gluten-free diet makes me feel good and that's enuf proof for me. Listen to your body! I was also told, "it's just stres", "take some antidepressants", "it's probably...

ARCHIVED Pumpkin Pie "cupcakes"Adelle replied to Guhlia's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips I only made 1 change, I had too much pumpkin and not enuf condensed milk, so I added some whipped cream. It was very mousse-like. Perfect. My fam is making a totally gluten-free thanksgiving (how sweet!) but we were unsure how to do the pie thing. My sis is alergic to nuts do that makes a gluten-free pie crust harder, but this is perfect! Totally bringing...

ARCHIVED Tender Abdominal Area After Being Glutened?Adelle replied to IrishKelly's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease My tummy gets veeery tender when I get glutened (which I did yesterday, so I'm all grumpy). My abdomen has ALWAYS been so tender, for most of my life I couldn't wear a belt properly. I always felt sick. After going gluten-free that has not been the case. Ryan (my hubby) also seems to have this symptom. I'm not sure what it is, but I hate it!

My husband and I went to the beach overnight to celebrate our anniversary. We celebrate our wedding anniversary (in aug) w friends n fam and our 1st date anniversary just us. Anyway, we got a room with a kitchenette, which we wil be returning to btw! Took food with us, but also decided to go to this thai food place. The waiter even brought out cans...

Unfortunately, the only place we have to let them run in grass is outside our apt complex, which I'm SURE they spray w pesticides. They r also NUTZ for hay, which I have access to plenty of (my mom has horses, and piggies don't eat much). Albert is adjusting fine, he seems to like ryan quite a bit, male energy I'm guessing. We're going toy shopping today...

Since boudika was so lonley, we cleaned our deceased cavy's old cage (got everything else new) and went to the humane society. They said that since maeve died within a year of us adopting her, we could get another piffie for free. So we brought albert home. So named because his poufy white hair reminds everyone of a certain excentric scientist. I can...

Good news! Ryan talked to the HR dept, they gave him an extra keyboard no problem. Because it's "for his wife" (he hasn't had any testing so he explained that I had a "severe allergy") and they just handed him one no questions asked. Easy peasy. He said it was for me cause they all know me, and my feebleness. And they all felt bad they hadn't thought...

Thanx for all of your support! Boudika is making the "I'm a lonley piggie" sound a lot. It's breaking my heart! We're gonna get another baby to keep her company soon. They were in separate cages (cause maeve was kinda aggro w other piggies due to the blindness and abuse by others) but they could see/hear eachother (they were good friends as long as there...

One of my guinea pigs died this morning. Maeve. We got her from the humane society a year ago to keep our other guinea pig (Boudika) company. Maeve had sight problems, seemed to be kinda old, reeeeally cuddley. We spoiled her rotten, she was fine yesterday..... These things happen (I grew up on a farm, I've been thru this b4) but it just really sucks....

Ya the woman won't stop eating ON the desk, cause she's an idot I've decided. His work won't allow outside computer equipment (he can't bring in his own mouse). He already uses clorox wipes all the time (hey if u share a workspace and hate getting sick...) But I still worry. Ugh his boss was just like "well wash your hands" arg!
-
Ok so @ my hubby's job they r now making him share a computer with someone else (her in the am him at night). She eats at her desk (glutaneous evilness). He's gonna get a keyboard cover (tmw b4 work!), but what about the mouse? I haven found a mouse cover. Could he purell his hands (he already does semi obsessively) or lysol it or something? What would...

Does anyone know when the new season of "deadliest catch" starts? I've been waiting and waiting! I love this show and I can't find out when it starts again! The discovery channel website doesn't load on my sidekick. Ahhhhhh!

I have sleep apnea, and I would suggest getting tested for that and other sleep problems. I would say get all of the blood tests (anemia, thyroid etc) u can first, but if u don't find anything, it could be worth looking into. The testing sux, but if u have a sleep disorder, there is a ton they can do to help!

Over the past few days I've been CRAVING dairy. I have been eating 1 cup yogurt for breakfast, 1 cup lowfat cottage cheese with lunch, and at least 2 glasses of milk/day. I constantly think about milk. It's so weird. What do u think this means?

ARCHIVED Oh My Gosh, Winter Has ArrivedAdelle replied to Ursa Major's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff Snow must be so lovely!! I live in salem, oregon it rains here almost as much here as it does in seattle. Too much rain and no snow! I've lived here my whole life, someday I want to build an actual snow man!! I'm so jealous!

ARCHIVED Could You Answer A Few Questions?Adelle replied to Gamecreature's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Hey! Welcome and congrats on finding the root cause of your sickness! I told everyone right away. Mostly cause I was VERY sick (everyone knew that) and I was terribly happy I found out what it is! Yay! As for the biopsy? I say don't bother! Painful, invasive, not very accurate. No thanx! I had a positive blood test (although I'd been on the diet...
