  1. I loooove great big sea!! Best band ever!! In fact, I'm listening to them right now!
  2. The weather is beautiful, actually. I loooovvve rain, so this area is lovely. But hopefully it won't be too rainy on the moving day. I'm horribly stressed about the move, but it'll work out. We have tons of help so it'll be okay. Thanks for asking!
  3. Yay! We're moving on the 1st, so this morning, we went to sears and bought our very first washer and dryer set! Yay! I feel so adult about it. We also got a 5 year clutz-proof warranty. So WHEN I break something (lol) I won't have to pay to fix it! Yay! They r gonna deliver it when we r in our new place. There's so much to do, but this is so exciting...
  4. I liked the "keeper" when I had it. But now I really like the "instead" things. They r fine for up to 12 hours and fit a little better than the keepers. They r easy to try if u don't wanna make the investment for the keeper. Anyway, hope it all works out.
  5. I'm giving u a mental hug. I'm 22 and still sick, stable, but not up to where I'd like to be. *hugs* Ursa mentioned getting ur thyroid checked... I have like every classic hypothyroid symptom, but every test comes back "the low end of normal". What can I do then? What do u do if the tests don't show enough? Or anything?
  6. I'm not gonna tell you to calm down... Cause I know u won't. HIV has as many varied symptoms as Celiac. HIV "symptoms" can be atributed to a million other things! Docs often want to test for HIV as a rather safe than sorry thing. I had a friend who had unprotected sex with her partner for years before they found out he was positive. She was negative...
  7. I wanted to ask about the milk bank thing. How would u get hooked up with one of them? I'm planning to do all I can to breastfeed, if I have extra, I'd be glad to help. I do think formula serves a purpose.. My best friend had a kid almost 2 years ago. Due to some hormonal thing (dx'd by a doc, but I don't know specifics), she didn't even go into labor...
  8. I haven't voted yet cause I'm not sure if I was breastfed, and if so for how long. All I know is (when ryan and I have kids) come hell or high water I'm breastfeeding. My immune system is so screwed, I want to give them everything I can! Also, my husband was fed goats milk. He had horrible D and violent vomiting every time he had his mom's breast milk...

ARCHIVED I Found A New Doctor!

Yay! Well I'd been looking for a new doc... I decided to meet with the doc who works in the same office as the allergist I saw. I woke up with an outer ear infection (which I've had b4 and the prev. Doc said he didn't know what it was), and I came to see him. He listened patiently, he even said he'd like to look up the extracts I'm taking. So he can see...

    ARCHIVED House

I was just gonna post about House! Ok so does anyone know the name of the episode about celiac disease? Is it season 2 or 3? I want to rent it (I see the show regularly, but I've missed that one).
  11. I have both! I tried to use the CPAP for a few months. I couldn't handle it. I would have panic attacks right when I almost fell asleep, it took me about 30-45 min to recover, then to try to sleep again. I went into such a state of sleep depravation, which only made the celiac worse. I couldn't even speak w/o slurring, couldn't walk straight, etc. The...
  12. You aren't alone! My first symptoms were extreme fatigue and weight gain. I was a competitive swimmer, then, I was sleeping 12-15 hours a day and I gained 60lbs in 1 year. In the 5ish years after that (just b4 I went gluten-free) I gained 25 more lb's and was eating hardly anything (typical day was 2 slices of bread OR a "top ramen" noodles and around...
  13. I feel much better about moving now. We found a place, and we have plenty of help moving. Yay! That makes it much less stressful. $40 more/mo for 128 sq feet, heat, decent landlords, and much more! Everything is going well. But packing will be sooooo un-fun. Some moron moved in next door. He watches porn all day. Eeewww. Only a week and a half to move...
  14. I think ur doing so much already!! The best thing (IMHO) is to keep doin what ur doin, and to keep plugging away at mastering the gluten-free diet. It takes time. also, don't feel bad about giving her toast etc before. My GI doc said to "eat more bread and less spicey foods". There were more days than not that I ate little or nothing besides 1 or 2 slices...
  15. They had celiac on house?? We've only missed a few episodes, so it's one of those. When ryan explained to a co-worker about why he couldn't eat pizza and always brought delishious-looking food, his friend said "oh like on 'house' that time?". we didn't see it, so we're not sure how accurate it is! Oh well. It is cool tho! I can't see the lupus...
  16. We've decided to move. Not far, most likely to an apartment like 3 miles away (same complex as a good friend!). We both hate moving. But our roof leaking is the straw that broke the camel's back. our 2nd bedroom (the one with our books and both guinea piggies) has a spot starting on the celieng. It's growing, obviously the roof is leaking. The landlord...
  17. Ahhhhhh!! Okay now I'm freaking out! My doc sent me a little card saying that my "globulin" was abnormally low. They r using my extra blood from other tests to run "some more tests". What does this mean?? I googled it. All the causes are terrifying! Kidney failure, liver necrosis!! Ahh what!? I'm gonna call monday, but in the meantime.... What can...
  18. Yes my cravings have changed greatly. I love bananas (only 79cents/pound for organic ones!). But I can't eat too many. I also eat TONS of broccoli. At least 3 heads/week. Sometimes double that! Want a milkshake? No thanx, I'm steaming broccoli. Ha ha. Broccoli and bananas! Yay! Oh and how do you grill bananas?
  19. I just had my 2nd allergist refuse to do ANY allergy testing. I'm experiencing a quite painful allergic reaction right now! Yar. Yes doctors suck. ahhhhhh!
  20. Thanx jayhawkmom!! I looked up oregon allergens. Aparently the alder has been high in this area this week. On your link if ur allergic to alder, celery, pears, almonds, and parsley all can react. All of those I've been eating. I'm gonna see if it goes away, then I'll know! Thanx! I don't have any other allergy symptoms, but it's worth a try.
  21. I have never been tested for any allergies at all. But I've never noticed any seasonal allergies. I'll try to view the site (I'm on a sidekick so some stuff doesn't work). For now I have my zyrtec and steroid cream (which is gritty and disgusting). Hoping this works. I also got a call from my doc. I need to come back for "more blood tests". Who...

  23. The allergist refused to do any allergy tests. Cause I don't have hives or anything. I don't know what that has to do with it. She did take 6 viles of blood (eeww) for some tests (but neglected to tell me what, I'll find out later) and do a chest x-ray (again I dunno why). Then I gotta give her my biopsy records (still waiting for them in the mail) and...
  24. I can't seem to find anything that causes a reaction with just touching it. My lips are going kinda numb. Better than burning pain!! Does anyone know what to look for in this appt? I've almost always had horrible experiences with doctors. Including 1 allergist who had me come back several times (billing my insurance) and never did any allergy testing...
  25. I'm pretty sure it's not a beauty product. The first few times it happened I used only dye/perfume free shampoo, soap, and deodorant. And no other beauty products. My dad was allergic to all preservatives, a bunch of foods, and had anvironmental allergies too. I don't know exactly what it is, because I never knew him and he outgrew them before he met...
