I've found its often the other way around in Hawaii. The Japanese nori is just seaweed and the Korean is season with soy sauce. Really have to be careful which one you get. ken -
thanks for the info -- there is still something wrong with thinsg being labeled as they are. gluten free should be gluten free. Maybe of hte public knew the governments rules concerning how much rat hair and other things are allowed in processed foods, maybe things would start to chang.

There is a natural food store, island naturals I think that is across the street from Prince Kuhio Mall and in the same shopping center as Office Max and Ross. My guess is that this 20ppm would have something to do with the manufacturing of gluten-free products even in a dedicated facility. They always seem to cloud the issue though, free should be free. Yeah I would bet they are just covering themselves. have to wonder how 20ppm would affect some of our more sensitive members. take care

all fresh fruit is fine and gluten free. The problem comes wiht some of it that is dried. It can be coated with wheat starch as well as sulphur. cant go wrong with fresh berries~!

Restaurant supply show where they were showing off the latest pizza ovens after tossing dough in the air. Also got glutened last year while talking to a friend who was breading shrimp. If its only green tea its fine. Some of the blends even herein Japan have mugi or barley mixed with them. Dont know numi but has soon as I saw jasmine green then it rang a bell as a blend. Ken -

almost all of what we get in Hawaii is pressed and processed. Didnt realize it until I got glutened by a slice I tried once. I supposed if you get your own slab to cook it should be ok but the sliced processed stuff can be dangerous. ken -

Usually I just use fresh citrus like Yuzu or kabosu as a dressing. Maybe some olive oil if I cna get a tiny package. The convenience stores are great. Family Mart is my favorite although the salads at AMPM are pretty good. I'm sure i'll be ok if I dont eat for a day or two. I am going to visit a few health food stores tomorrow and get a picture... -

After a little more than a week into my month long trip, I got wacked yesterday from of all things Hagen dass! Too busy to get to a restaurant, I stopped at the ampm mini mart for a salad -- They have great salads here even in these types of places. They gave me some to bring home but i've not had a chance to try things yet. may try to cook something up at my friends although i worry about the cc from their kitchen.
